Piers Morgan Issues Midterm Elections Warning as Polls Predict ‘Bloodbath’
What To Know
- Latest polls show Democratic Senate candidates leading in seven states, suggesting a “blue wave” in the midterms.
- CNN analyst Harry Enten shared that the Democrats are predicted to take the House and the Senate.
- Piers Morgan cautioned it could be an ‘existential’ night for pollsters if the GOP outperforms polls.
Several political commentators have chimed in after the latest set of polls suggests a huge night for Democrats and a “bloodbath” for Republicans in Tuesday’s (November 3) midterm elections.
The reaction came after the New York Times/Siena poll, the last Senate poll before the elections, which predicted a “blue wave” for the Democrats. The poll showed Democratic candidates leading in Texas, Maine, Ohio, Kansas, Alaska, Iowa, and Michigan, where Abdul El-Sayed led Republican candidate Mike Rogers by 11 points.
CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten analyzed the data in the latest episode of The Enten Scale, putting Democrats’ chances of regaining the House at 92 percent and taking control of the Senate at 71 percent.
“That is a huge chance, but it’s still not 100 percent,” Enten said of the Senate numbers. “Republicans still have a 29 percent chance of holding on to the United States Senate. And that ain’t nothing.”
Enten also noted that the GOP has outperformed poll expectations in the past, though he added that President Donald Trump’s approval rating has never been so low. He joked that Trump’s rating is so low he’s “down there swimming with the Little Mermaid.”
Journalist and political commentator Piers Morgan also referenced the GOP’s tendency to upset the polls. Reacting to the NYT/Siena poll on X, Morgan wrote, “Incredible night for Dems if this is what happens on Tuesday… possibly existential night for pollsters if it doesn’t.”

The Honest Polling Company’s Mark Mitchell also aired caution, writing, “Wow. The Republicans are in trouble. But this much trouble? Hard to say. It all depends on independent turnout and sentiment.”
Others were more bullish, including Adam Carlson, founder of Zenith Strategies, who simply wrote, “Bloodbath.”
MS NOW columnist Eric Garcia added, “There are polls that hit like crack. But this poll must hit like black tar heroin for Democrats.”

Talarico up 7 on Paxton
Jackson up 6 on Collins
Are my eyes deceiving me? Can this really be happening? I’ll never forgive the pollsters if they get yet another election wrong.
