What To Know

  • Rick and Marty Lagina return to their treasure hunt when Season 14 of The Curse of Oak Island premieres November 10 on History.
  • A promo teases an emotional discovery.
  • The team has uncovered more than 2,000 artifacts.

After more than a decade, are Rick and Marty Lagina finally solving the big mystery chronicled on The Curse of Oak Island? The brothers believe they are closer than ever to doing that when the History Channel show returns for Season 14 on November 10. These undeterred treasure hunters have dedicated much of their lives to uncovering what has been hidden for centuries

The search has grown to include pirate loot possibly belonging to legendary captains and other historical relics from varying points in time. Water and core samples from deep shafts have shown traces of gold and old wooden structures. At the core of the investigation has been within the man-made underground shaft known as the Money Pit dating back to 1795. Three friends Daniel McGinnis, John Smith and Anthony Vaughn noticed a strange circular depression in the ground on the eastern end of the island located in Nova Scotia.

In all, Rick, Marty, and the rest of their dedicated crew have found more than 2,000 artifacts and numerous stone structures. Each discovery has served as signs that they were on the right track. These needed breadcrumbs have put them on a path the team wants to see through after years of heavy excavation and scientific testing. At the same time, they are feeling the pressure now more than ever to deliver the goods and validating a legacy of hunches from past explorers including the late Dan Blankenship, who died in 2019 at age 95. He spent more than half a century venturing through the island and was a principal partner of the brothers.

The promo shared exclusively to TV Insider could provide a clue that a big reveal might be around the corner. We hear, “What the heck? You found that in the Money Pit?” Then you hear Rick declared, “This is what we’ve spent our entire lives searching.” The teaser ends with an emotional embrace. That certainly leads one to wonder what made the brothers have that sort of reaction.

Season 14 picks up where Rick, Marty, and core team member Craig Tester have relaunched their quest. The synopsis teases “they are rocked by new discoveries in the Money Pit and in the massive feature on Lot 8.” As Rick, Marty, and Craig relaunch the team’s quest to find the legendary treasure, they are rocked by new discoveries in the Money Pit and in the massive boulder feature on Lot 8. It was in that spot where a hand-cut stone cradle beneath a large boulder was probed with a hammer drill. This revealed soft material underneath where they were led to believe something had been removed or placed.

Do you think this is the year the adventurers of The Curse of Oak Island see their dream discovery realized? Let us know in the comments.
