After double-majoring in psychology and English at the College of William & Mary, earning her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law, and passing bar exams in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Reid worked as a CBS News correspondent in D.C., covering legal affairs, the Justice Department, and the White House, according to her previous CNN bio.
She joined CNN in 2021 and worked her way from senior legal affairs correspondent to chief legal affairs correspondent at the network.
Variety reported at the end of June that Reid had decided to leave CNN ahead of Paramount Skydance’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, then CNN’s parent company. Sources told Variety that Reid opted not to renew her contract at CNN because of the uncertainty of working under new corporate management.
The following day, the outlet reported speculation that Reid would be joining MS NOW, but the network had no comment. “As a general matter of practice, we don’t comment on personnel matters,” an MS NOW spokesperson said at the time. “As everyone in Washington knows, Paula Reid is an exceptional reporter, and any news organization would be fortunate to showcase her journalism.”
Reid commented on her new position in an Instagram post on Thursday. “Thrilled to join @msnownews as the Chief WH Reporter covering the next two years of the Trump Administration and whatever comes after that…” she wrote. “A great time to have a front row seat to history.”
