Does Major ‘Line of Fire’ News Suggest It Will Be Renewed for Season 2?
What To Know
- NBC has ordered a full 18-episode season of Line of Fire.
- The new drama is a hit, according to ratings.
This news bodes well for the future of NBC’s latest family and crime drama.
NBC has given Line of Fire, starring Peter Krause and Hope Davis, a full-season order, which means 18 episodes. The news comes three days after Episode 5 aired, on Monday, October 19.
Not only is the series a hit with critics and fans, with its stellar cast, gripping writing, and intriguing twists, but it’s also doing well ratings-wise. Its average viewership across the platforms is more than 14 million for the series premiere, which aired on September 21. That first episode delivered NBC’s best DVR lift for a premiere since the Night Court reboot’s in January 2023. The series also increased its demo rating by 47% with its second episode and rose a season-high demo with Episode 5.
Line of Fire is also doing well on Peacock, where series stream the day after airing on NBC. It’s NBC’s highest-reaching Season 1 series on the streamer after 28 days.

This news certainly seems to be a good sign for the series’ future. It’s too early for a Season 2 pickup, but if these numbers continue and the episodes to come are just as compelling, it certainly suggests that one could be coming.
Line of Fire follows a family of law enforcement agents from the FBI, U.S. Marshals, Secret Service, and Department of Justice. But what only some of them — the parents, Mike (Krause) and Jane (Davis) — know (or at least did for a while) is that the thought-to-be-dead member, Jack (Charlie Barnett), is actually alive. Exactly what he’s up to is a major mystery.
In addition to Krause, Davis, and Barnett, the series stars Kat Cunning, Tommy O’Brien, and Taylor Bloom. Creator and writer Joshua Safran executive produces with Jenna Bush Hager and Ben Spector. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
