Roseanne Barr publicly asked Randy Quaid to leave his wife — and the actor issued a provocative response to her bold request.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday, October 20, the Roseanne actress, 73, opened up about working with the National Lampoon’s Vacation actor, 76, in a new sitcom titled Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable.
“I’m in love with him, and I wish he would leave his wife and marry me,” Barr declared of Randy and Evi, who recently celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary. She then revealed, “I enjoyed making out with him so much that I wrote extra scenes where we would make out.”
In response to Barr’s public declaration of love, Randy shared a playful statement with Entertainment Weekly, published on October 21.
“Her show’s title should be changed to I LOVE ROSEANNE,” he proclaimed. “She’s luuuuscious…”

Eyebrow-raising banter aside, Barr called Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable “the funniest s*** I’ve ever done.” She explained that it follows a “patriotic grandmother who is the matriarch of a mixed-race prepper family in Texas,” per EW. Drea de Matteo portrays her Jewish-Cuban daughter, who is married to a Black man (Omar Gooding).
Ahead of her granddaughter’s (Indy Bugg) 13th birthday, Rose wants to throw her the “greatest bat mitzvah that’s ever been in Bovine, Texas.” There’s just one problem: She can’t afford it. So, Rose uses “everything at her command” to scrape up the cash. This includes “her formerly dormant sexuality,” awakened by the local sheriff, played by Quaid. (Quaid also plays Rose’s husband, Dylan.)
Doug Jones is also part of the cast, with guest appearances from Jon Lovitz, Tony Hinchcliffe, and Kim Congdon.
As of writing, neither a premiere date nor a network/streaming platform has been announced for Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable.
