Who is starring in the Glee revival?

According to Heather Morris, Brittany S. Pierce is set to return for the Glee revival, as she took to Instagram to share a photo of herself from the show’s original run alongside the caption, “Yes ladies and gentle men of women, rumors are true. Casting wasn’t announced with the revival order, but Morris was the first in what could be a domino effect for other OG cast members.

It has since been revealed that Lea Michele would also join the mix, as she will reprise her role as Rachel Berry, according to Variety. “She’s in,” a source told the outlet. Another shared, “It’s still early-ish days, but it feels good, and we’re happy to get the band back together.

Along with Morris and Michele, Glee‘s original cast included Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Amber Riley, Harry Shum Jr., Jayma Mays, and Diana Agron, among others. In 2010, Darren Criss and Chord Overstreet also joined the ensemble, which included late stars Corey Monteith and Naya Rivera.

What is Glee?

For those less acquainted with the show’s original run, Glee aired on Fox from 2009 to 2015 and followed the students of William McKinley High School who were part of the glee club headed by Spanish teacher Will Schuester (Morrison). The show became a cultural phenomenon that impacted music, television, and pop culture during the 2010s. The show’s message of embracing individuality, celebrating outsiders, and championing representation and acceptance solidified Glee‘s spot in the zeitgeist.

Who is making the Glee revival?

No team is currently attached to the Glee revival, but the show’s original run was helmed by creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan, with Murphy having served as showrunner. Keep an eye out as we await further information on the team behind the Glee return.
