What To Know

  • The premiere of Tulsa King Season 4 introduced a major change for Mitch Keller.
  • Here, actor Garrett Hedlund weighs in on his character’s career move and teases “chaos” ahead.

The return of Tulsa King for its Season 4 premiere brought along several changes — including one major career shift for Mitch Keller (Garrett Hedlund). When Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) gathered the troops for his usual big pep talk — before things took a dark turn, of course — he made the announcement that he was shuttering the car lot. Despite that being Mitch’s idea to begin with, he seemed pleased to say goodbye to that line of work.

The reason, according to Garrett Hedlund, is that he was always a fish out of water running the high-pressure sales racket.

“It was a little stretch outside of his comfort zone in the first place. He wasn’t used, nor comfortable with, putting himself front and center on a sort of showboating exploration such as that, so he’s happy to say farewell,” Hedlund told TV Insider. “And it wasn’t producing the way they intended.”

Though Dwight has insisted that the rest of the team make legitimate business moves only, he has other plans for Mitch: In a new scheme, he wants Mitch to swap out the inventory with junker versions of the same cars and then burn them for the insurance money while selling off the real-deal versions of the cars at a premium.

“They can make up for their losses, sell off all the cars, and still be in the plus on it, tally it up to another mark of the board of things that didn’t necessarily profit the way they’d hoped, and so on to the next,” Hedlund reasoned.

As for what’s next for Mitch in Season 4, the actor teased, “This season, we feel there’s a lot of dollar signs behind the horse races, so we’re deeply invested in to that. There’s some discoveries on the property, the dirt that we find, that we consider to be quite valuable…. All the while, somebody’s trying to take our land, our weed shop, everything that we built from the ground up, and so there’s some chaos happening this season for sure.”
