What is Paramount+’s Laird series about?

Laird is not a period drama but rather a present-day series set in the modern Scottish Highlands. It’s an epic family saga in which a proud Scot (Branagh) defies a shadowy American billionaire (Sarsgaard) hellbent on buying up the glens. Amidst family feuds, buried secrets and star-crossed romances, the Laird of Castle Drummoch (Branagh) remains determined to protect his ancestral lands from oligarchical land grabbing.

Created by Jez Butterworth (MobLand, The Agency), John-Henry Butterworth (Nine Perfect Strangers, The Agency), and Georgia Lee (Destination, Mudtown), Laird is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios. It will air exclusively on Paramount+.

Branagh executive produces alongside Yellowstone‘s David C. Glasser, Jez Butterworth, and John-Henry Butterworth, Joe Wright, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Charles Finch, and Keith Cox.
