What To Know

  • Ginger Zee shared a humorous behind-the-scenes look at the less glamorous realities of live morning TV.
  • Zee explained why she had to rush to set while filming outside of SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
  • The meteorologist often shares on social media what it really takes to film Good Morning America every day.

Ginger Zee reminded fans that morning TV isn’t as glamorous behind the scenes as it is on screen.

The meteorologist reported live outside of SoFi Stadium on the Monday, October 12, episode of Good Morning America ahead of the Buffalo Bills versus the Los Angeles Rams NFL game that night. In a Monday morning Instagram post, Zee revealed that the broadcast location nearly cost her airtime.

“Running to make it live because there’s no restroom to use,” she said in the clip as she rushed back to set. “So, here we are over at the NFL building, and I’m live in eight minutes. So just, you know, jogging in the streets next to SoFi on a rainy, cold morning.”

She went on to joke, “This is the glamour of TV.” The video also showed Zee standing with an umbrella in the rain while setting up a shot, along with footage from her GMA conversation with Bills and Rams outside the stadium.

In the post’s caption, she wrote, “West coast my first promo is at 3:10 am, show at 4 am so not much open to accommodate. so worth it to celebrate Tony of @heartoflosangeles and Monday Night Football! Bills V Rams – who do you want to win? Is this a preview of the superbowl? @samwnek.”

Fans reacted to Zee’s TV near-mishap in the post’s comments. “I thought you all wore Depends when you’re reporting out in the wild,” one user joked, to which Zee replied, “It’s actually not a bad idea. Look into that for future.” Another added, “Lucky you were in trainers and not heels.” Zee responded, “Definitely.”

Someone else stated, “The megastar that you are, I know you’re provided with your own private jet as well as customized bus with restroom, kitchen etc inside… If not, we’re gonna have to fix this!” Zee used The Morning Show to clarify the morning TV misconception, writing, “That was the most unrealistic part of Apple TV is the morning show. We are on remote there’s very little provided. and it’s always commercial flights.”

A different person posted, “Many don’t know what all happens to get that shot. I’m with ya!!!” A separate commenter said, “Oh wow @ginger_zee and yet there you were LIVE to greet us all. The best! Thank you for all the effort always that goes into being a part of my morning every day! GMA.”

Zee is no stranger to showing fans what really goes into making GMA on social media. Earlier this summer, Zee opened up about her decision to re-wear old outfits on the ABC morning show.

“If you think data and facts about heat get people all worked up… imagine their disdain when I emphasize my anti-consumerism practice of going 4+ years without buying new clothing,” she wrote alongside photos of herself sporting the same yellow dress. “Dress today is an oldie but a goodie I’ve had for at least 8 years. #nonewclothes.”
