5 Things Mark Harmon & Michael Weatherly’s ‘NCIS: Origins’ Reunion Must Include

It’s the reunion that no NCIS fan will want to miss. Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly are going to be together onscreen again in the Tuesday, October 20, episode of the prequel, NCIS: Origins.

So far, here’s what we know about the reunion: It “finds Leroy Jethro Gibbs returning to NCIS’ D.C. headquarters to enlist the help of new director Tony DiNozzo after Gibbs was shot by unknown assailants in the Origins season premiere on Oct. 6.” See them together in the episode in the photo below.

Below, we’re taking a look at some of the things we need to see from Gibbs and Tony’s reunion. Let us know yours in the comments section.

A head slap … or at least allusion to one

It was made famous between Gibbs and Tony (from Gibbs to Tony), and we’ve even seen one on Origins, but both characters — especially Tony, since he’s now the agency’s director — have come a long way since then. So, let’s acknowledge that onscreen, by remembering where they came from but turning it into a sweeter moment, perhaps a face pat like we’ve also gotten between them.

Some sort of callback to the early days

When NCIS premiered, it was just Gibbs and Tony on the team. And for those 13 seasons they starred on the series together before Weatherly’s exit, there were a couple cast changes but they remained consistent. Wouldn’t it be great to have a mention onscreen of something calling back to a moment of the two of them together back then?

Reveal that Gibbs & Tony have been in touch

Since Gibbs moved to Alaska when Harmon exited NCIS in Season 19, there have been a couple mentions of him and we know that Vera (Roma Maffia) is in touch with him. Parker (Gary Cole) even called on him for a favor to get revenge following Vance’s (Rocky Carroll) murder in the 500th episode. We already heard in the premiere that Tony was at Vance’s funeral. Now’s the time to hear that when Gibbs and Tony come face-to-face again, it’s not going to be the first time they’ll be talking in years.

Ziva and Tali mentions

Chances are there won’t be much time for catching up, but hopefully Gibbs at least asks how Ziva and Tali are doing; it’ll be even better if he already knows they’re in the Boston area, confirming the above.

Promise it’s not the only/last one

Now that we’re going to be seeing Gibbs and Tony together again and both are onscreen in regular ways on their shows, the best thing to do would be to have it made clear that they’ll be talking offscreen about what’s going on with Gibbs and Gibbs will be back to see Tony at some point.
