What To Know

  • Jimmy Kimmel responded to Donald Trump calling him a “loser” during a recent rally in Tennessee.
  • The late-night host doubled down on mocking the president’s “sparsely attended” rallies.
  • Kimmel joked that the rallies are much like Trump’s cognitive function, “not at full capacity.”

Jimmy Kimmel fired back at Donald Trump on Monday night (October 12), giving the president a new nickname after he called him a “crooked loser” at a rally in Clarksville, Tennessee, on Saturday (October 10).

The late-night host shared clips from the event on Monday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, saying, “President Pumpkin McButthurt took a break from complaining to throw a three-hour or two-hour tantrum this weekend.”

During one part of his speech, the president took aim at Kimmel, who had previously made jokes about Trump’s “sparsely attended” rallies. “You’ll never guess who got a shoutout,” Kimmel said as he threw to the clip.

“This loser, Jimmy Kimmel. What a loser,” Trump said as the MAGA faithful laughed and cheered behind him. “I had just left Texas or somewhere. The place is packed. Maybe it was Ohio; the place is packed. He said, ‘Donald Trump had a sparsely attended [rally].’ I said, ‘Sparsely attended?!’ They had to walk thousands of people… they couldn’t get into the room.”

The president added, “These guys are crooked people. They’re losers.”

“Be honest, do I really sound like that?” Kimmel asked his audience while mocking Trump’s impersonation. “Of all the things I said about him last week, of all the many moronic and criminal words and deeds I detailed, that’s what bothers him? Me pointing out the fact that his rallies have empty seats?”

“Well, in that case, let’s do it again,” the comedian said, highlighting images of empty seats at various Trump rallies. “There were many empty seats at the rally. So many empty seats. There were even empty seats at the rally where he complained about me saying he had empty seats at the rally!”

Kimmel added, “He keeps claiming the reason there are empty seats in the back and the top is because the people love him so much they make their way down to the front. Isn’t it interesting that that never happens at a Lakers game? People just moving up to the front. But it does at an event controlled by the United States Secret Service.”

He concluded the segment by saying that the recent rallies are “much like Trump’s cognitive function, not at full capacity.”
