After celebrating its “biggest season yet,” Big Brother is aiming even higher. The CBS reality show was renewed for Seasons 29 and 30 at the end of its record-breaking Season 28, and it is reportedly looking to raise the jackpot again.

When Big Brother first premiered, the winner took home $500,000, and second place won $50,000. America’s Favorite Houseguest was introduced in Season 7, the first All-Stars season, where the winner took home $25,000.

Every season had the same winnings until Season 23, when the prizes were raised and have remained that way since. The winner now gets $750,000. The runner-up takes home $75,000. America’s Favorite Houseguest is now awarded $50,000.

But that is rumored to change for Season 30, which should air in 2028. Rick Devens might no longer be the highest-ever winner on the show with $810,000, because, according to The U.S. Sun, a source at CBS said that Big Brother plans to go “all out like Survivor did” for Season 30. For Season 50, Survivor brought back fan-favorite contestants from a fan vote and upped the prize from $1 million to $2 million.

“It will be an all-star season with some of the most iconic vets of the game,” the source shared. “The budget will be bigger, and they want to increase the prize money too to $1 million. They want it to be the biggest season of Big Brother yet.” It is not clear what second place or America’s Favorite would get.

Season 29, which is set to air in Summer 2027, will be “back to newbies,” according to the source, after Season 28 featured two Survivor alums and Season 26 alum Angela Murray. “They might throw one vet in there to shake things up but otherwise will be new people,” the source shared about next season.

Aside from Season 7, Big Brother‘s other complete All-Star cast came during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Season 22. It was a shortened season, which saw Season 16’s runner-up Cody Calafiore become victorious. In the past, the CBS show has featured veteran players in the form of coaches, duos, twists, and more, where one or more veterans entered the game.

Which alums would you want to see back for the show’s 30th season? Let us know in the comments.
