‘Community’ Reunion: The Cast Gives Movie Update & Looks Back on Favorite Moments at NYCC 2026

It was a Community reunion at New York Comic-Con 2026 as stars Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong joined TV Insider in-studio for an exclusive interview moments after their panel.

The first order of business once the cast took a seat was to ask about the movie element of the “six seasons and a movie” prophecy Pudi’s Abed repeated throughout the show’s run. Ordered four years ago in 2022, the official Community movie has yet to film, but the team is promising it’s still on the way, reassuring audiences that the prophecy will be fulfilled.

“We shot it,” McHale jokes in a deadpan response to a question about a status update, before shifting gears and asking, “No, did you see The Odyssey?” All jokes aside, he adds, “I’d say it’s at the same place it was. We have the money, and we just need to get the schedules together…” The seriousness only lasts so long, though, as McHale tries to put blame on Jeong for the delay. “[Ken]’s insisting on wearing this wardrobe to the movie…”

“I’ve personally been sitting on set since they told us it was going to, so I’m gonna go from here right back to set and just wait,” Jim Rash chimes in, echoing sentiments his character Dean Pelton would surely appreciate.

“We joke a lot about it, but it’s going to happen. We swear,” McHale continues.

Pudi corroborates as much, adding, “It’s gonna happen. We believe, we’re optimistic.”

“We have the money,” Jeong reminds us, alluding to McHale’s earlier sentiments, with a laugh.

As the video interview continues, Rash reveals he recently spoke to Community creator Dan Harmon, during which he asked about the movie. “His answer to that question was, ‘It’d be so easy for me to say it’s not happening, and I don’t say that.’ So I think that that’s what he’s saying to us is what, you know, is that’s the answer you want. So, I feel it’s a matter of time; that’s what I believe.”
