Journey drummer Deen Castronovo suffered a medical emergency mid-concert at a show in Tulsa, Oklahoma — and worried fans are hoping for a health update.
On Thursday, October 8, Castronovo, 62, was helped off the stage during the second song of the concert.
“We’re going to see what happens as this progresses,” his bandmate, Jonathan Cain, said, per Tulsa World. “It’s an unfortunate situation. We’re very sorry. We’re hoping it’s only a delay, but please — I’m sorry. Don’t worry. Have your prayers ready. Have your prayers ready for Deen Castronovo, everybody. Thank you.”
After that, guitarist Neal Schon explained that they were taking the drummer to a hospital. He announced that the show would go on, with Castronovo’s drum tech filling in.
“Please give a big hand for Steve Toomey,” he said. “We’ll be back in about 15 minutes. We love you all, we’re really sorry about the inconvenience.”
Lead vocalist Arnel Pineda also asked for prayers and reassured fans, joking, “He’s gonna be fine. Too much Gatorade,” per Ultimate Classic Rock.

Later in the show, Schon declared, “This concert’s for Deen tonight. I’d love you all to pray for him. Everybody’s been going through a lot. I think he’s going to be fine.”
In the comments of a clip posted on X following Castronovo’s medical emergency, fans sent him prayers and well-wishes.
One X user wrote, “I’m at the same concert in the nosebleeds. Praying.”
Another shared, “I was there too! I hope he’s ok! The drum tech did an awesome job tho!!”
Someone else commented, “Sending prayers.”

Journey’s next show is scheduled for Saturday, October 10 in San Antonio, Texas. It’s unclear whether Castronovo will perform or whether the show will be affected at all by his health scare.
As of writing, Journey has not shared an official health update for Castronovo.
