‘Jeopardy!’ Contestant Appears on Show 3 Years After Daughter’s ‘Wildcard’ Gaffe
Another Jeopardy! legacy has entered the villa. The mother of Jiliana Cotter, who appeared on the Champions Wildcard, tried to become the second Jeopardy! champion in the family, according to WBBH.
Elise Rose, from Ave Maria, Florida, played on the October 6, 2026, game. Cotter, who appeared as Jilian Rose-Silverberg in March 2021, took home the second-place prize. During the Second Chance Tournament in 2023, she won $35,000 and a spot in Champions Wildcard. During that tournament, Cotter received $25,000 for third place. Her wager in Champions Wildcard would have tied her with her opponent if he had gotten the final question correct.
Rose, a tutor, researcher, and editor, tried to win a game of Jeopardy! and see if she could beat her daughter. On October 6, she faced off against returning champion Rian Robertson from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and Alex Kim from Holyoke, Massachusetts. Robertson, a software developer, entered the game with a three-day total of $39,701. Can he win his fourth, or will the Jeopardy! legacy stop his reign? Warning: Spoilers for the Tuesday, October 6, episode of Jeopardy! ahead!
