We’re less than two weeks from the Season 23 premiere of Grey’s Anatomy, and now, new details about what is ahead for the Grey Sloan surgical team are in.
ABC has revealed the official loglines for both the premiere and second episode of the season, revealing how Benson “Blue” Kwan (Harry Shum Jr.) will make his way back into the hospital scene after his firing and when fans can expect to see Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) again after she was not pictured in the set photos from Season 23’s production start.
First, “Collide,” which airs on October 15, is described like so: “After a collision at Sea-Tac sends a surge of critically injured patients to Grey Sloan, the unveiling of its controversial new VIP floor is thrown into chaos as doctors race to save lives amid impossible choices.” This aligns with the video teaser’s promise of a plane crash that brings victims to the ER and promises to be an event opener for the new season.
Second up for the season is “Slippin’ and Slidin’,” the description for which reads: “As Bailey [Chandra Wilson] adjusts to student life, she and Blue respond to a fraternity hazing mishap. Meredith juggles Boston and Seattle as she advocates for a young patient, and Amelia [Caterina Scorsone] and Toni [Jen Landon] support Jo [Camilla Luddington].”
Showrunner Meg Marinis previously teased to TV Insider that Miranda would have some big adjustments to make as she seeks her master’s in public health. “She has firsthand experience dealing with the ‘system’ and how it helps and hurts patients. The trick will be how she’s able to manage school, her work as a doctor, and her personal life. We can all be stretched so thin.”
Marinis also said that Blue would have “a long road to go in terms of regaining Richard’s [James Pickens Jr.] trust again, and we’ll have to wait and see if that leads to him potentially getting his job back.”
As for Jo Wilson, well, Marinis teased that after her bout with PTSD from her traumatic childbirth experience, “Jo is a fighter, as we know, but this will definitely be a time of personal discovery and growth for her.”
