Kate Beckinsale sparked serious fan concern with a cryptic message as she wiped her Instagram grid clean.
On Sunday, September 20, the English actress, 53, posted an Instagram photo (that has since been deleted) featuring a black background and a single word in white lettering: “bye.”
She also posted on her Instagram Stories in all lowercase, “Congratulations, you won. I give up.”
Additionally, Beckinsale shared a link in her bio to an article about Caroline Flack’s suicide.

Beckinsale seemingly deactivated comments on her remaining IG post, prompting fans to sound the alarm on X. “Someone check on Kate Beckinsale now please,” one wrote, alongside screenshots of the alarming updates.
Another X user shared, “In the off-chance someone who follows me has the ability to check in on Kate Beckinsale, it would probably be a good idea to do that now. I hope this just means she’s quitting social media, but.”
Someone else echoed on X, “Is she OK? I hope she’s just quitting social media…”
A different X user speculated, “She’s probably just being overly dramatic as usual, but just in case, someone needs to call a 5150 in on Kate Beckinsale. Assuming it’s not too late.”
Meanwhile, yet another fan commented on X, “I hope someone who knows Kate Beckinsale is doing a welfare check on her. I hope she will be okay, she’s been through so much and people online are horrific.”
Beckinsale is best known for playing Selene in the Underworld films, as well as her roles in Serendipity (2001), Pearl Harbor (2001), Van Helsing (2004), Total Recall (2012), and Love & Friendship (2016), among other projects.
Earlier in September, the Click (2006) actress opened up about her struggle with PTSD in a pair of Instagram updates, following the deaths of her stepfather, Roy Battersby, in 2024, and her mother, Judy Loe, in 2025.
“People who have PTSD have seen the worst of mortality and tried to keep going,” she said in one video. “Maybe don’t always tell a person how strong they are. Maybe that person is just crushed under the weight of having been strong for years … and their strength has been misinterpreted as not needing gentleness.”
Beckinsale continued, “There are people who are silently caregiving, watching their loved ones deteriorate in horrifying and frightening ways that they’re not medically qualified to deal with. And they do it on their own. And it can break them, especially when everyone else relies on the trope of saying, ‘Wow, you’re so strong.’ The person needs, ‘I’ll be here if you need to fall apart.'”
