‘Phony’: Everything We Know About Hulu’s Twisted New Mystery Series
What would happen if the person you loved and trusted most in the world was suddenly replaced — and no one believed you?
That’s the unsettling premise behind Hulu’s upcoming dark comedy mystery Phony, which follows Sonny (Sam Nivola), a teenage boy who becomes convinced that his mother has been replaced by an impostor. Connie Britton stars as his single mom, Ellen, who also happens to be the principal of his high school, making Sonny’s increasingly bizarre situation even harder to escape.
The series comes from writer, director, and executive producer Nick Paley, best known for his work on the charming YouTube shorts and subsequent A24 film Marcel the Shell With Shoes On. Britton also executive produces alongside Drew Goddard‘s Goddard Textiles and 20th Television.
