Will ‘Fire Country’ Stars Cross Over to ‘Sheriff Country’ After Shortened Season’s Finale?

Fire Country Season 5 will be shorter than usual, with 13 episodes, but with the way that it’s been crossing over with Sheriff Country and will continue to do so, we have to wonder if that means we could see some of the firefighters over with the law enforcement officers after its finale.

Sheriff Country showrunner Matt Lopez confirms that the spinoff’s second season is 20 episodes, and he’s all for that happening.

“I would count my lucky stars if we could persuade one Max Thieriot to come visit us,” he says during CBS’s press day for the two shows. “I would love to [bring Fire characters over after its finale]. What we are all about, whether it’s Fire Country, Sheriff Country, or the show we’re presently calling Edge Med [which is only in development so far], it’s about creating a seamless tapestry and a seamless universe. And the idea that we could be in the meet-up in an episode of Sheriff Country, and Eve [Jules Latimer] could walk in, or Manny [Kevin Alejandro] could walk in, or Bode could walk in, is a big part of the fun. So we’ll definitely be looking for those opportunities for sure.”

Thieriot, who, along with starring as Bode on Fire Country, serves as an executive producer and co-creator on both, also wants that to happen.

“I think that’s really one of the keys to the franchise, is that these shows all exist in the same small town. And I think that’s one of the really fun things that we like to play with and really make it feel like when you go to Edgewater, you could see anybody, you could bump into anyone. The characters are going to the same places, they eat at the same restaurants, they go to the same schools. That’s the unique thing about living in a small town,” he says.

“Obviously, there’s plenty of drama that comes with living in a small town, let me tell you, but it’s the fun of it, too. It’s just how interwoven everybody can be and is inevitably. And these people specifically, not just in their personal lives, but in their work lives,” he continues. “So yeah, I think we’re all kind of excited to have a little window of time where we can bring in and not be worrying as much about schedules and everything else.”
