How ‘Eternally Yours’ Could Cross Over With ‘Ghosts’

This fall, the creators of Ghosts are bringing a new supernatural dramedy to the small screen at CBS. Eternally Yours, cocreated by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, premieres this fall and presents a 500-year-old married couple, Charles (Ed Weeks) and Liz (Allegra Edwards), in a rut.

The family comedy has a vampire twist, so naturally, some Ghosts fans wonder whether the supernatural sectors will collide for a major crossover event. And according to the EPs, that’s definitely a possibility.

Speaking to press on Wednesday (September 16), Wiseman recalled the “circular journey” that the show has had after spending years in the rejection pile. “Now, because of the success of Ghosts, we get to revisit this,” he said. “It’s this fun circular journey, and the script means a lot to us, personally and professionally.”

“It has been brought from the dead,” he continued, “which seems appropriate for vampires.”

About the possibility of a crossover with the show that made it all possible, well, Wiseman said it’s absolutely a consideration.

“Yeah, we’ve been talking about that a lot. That’s something that we are excited about doing. So it’s definitely a possibility,” he said. As for which show might host such an event episode, Wiseman confirmed it would likely be Ghosts.

“Since the characters on this show can leave places, it probably would make more sense that a few of them ended up at Woodstone,” Wiseman said.

Port explained this massive difference in the characters’ physical capabilities in Eternally Yours, saying, “We have become conditioned on Ghosts to never leave the house because none of the characters can leave the house. So it’s incredibly refreshing to have characters that can walk out the door and go to jobs and hold things in their hands…. A lot of the action does take place at the house. It’s about this coven of vampires and basically these two families that have come together to form this coven, and many of them have lived together for centuries, but we’re also going to see these people in everyday life. They have jobs and friends, and we’re gonna be out in the world a little more than we are on Ghosts.”

The cast of the new series also weighed in on how a Ghosts crossover with Eternally Yours might look, especially since some stars of the show have already appeared on Ghosts, and Rose Abdoo pointed out, “I personally would love it if Paula and Phyllis, we find out that perhaps they were sisters or cousins, and much like in the old days of Bewitched, when you had Samantha and Serena, there could be Paula and Phyllis universe, but I told the guys I’m perfectly willing to go to Woodstone as Paula. I love doing Paula, but I love doing Phyllis too. I can’t pick.”

Allegra Edwards then pitched, “I love the idea that my I am my own great great great great great great great grandmother, because I am so old and ancient…. I’ve always loved that idea. I’ve wanted to do that.”
