What To Know

  • Dancing With the Stars Season 35 will begin with a two-night premiere on September 15 and 16.
  • The male celebrities will perform on Night 1 and the ladies on Night 2.
  • One contestant will be eliminated at the end of each night based on judges’ scores and viewer votes combined.

We have finally made it to Dancing With the Stars Season 35 premiere week! With 16 celebrities in competition this year, the show will be kicking off with a two-night premiere, and we want to make sure you’re not missing a second.

While DWTS will normally only air on Tuesday nights throughout the season, the first week will feature back-to-back episodes on Tuesday, September 15, and Wednesday, September 16. Both episodes will begin at 8/7c and air live for two hours.

Night 1 of the premiere will feature the male celebrities performing with their pro partners. That means Tyler Cameron/Sharna Burgess, Ezra Frech/Daniella Karagach, Taylor Hanson/Britt Stewart, Conner Leavitt/Adele Zaikman, Jackson Olson/Emma Slater, Guillermo Rodriguez/Witney Carson, Harry Shum Jr./Jenna Johnson, and Connor Wood/Rylee Arnold will be hitting the dance floor.

The guys will be dancing to a song that was No. 1 during the year they were born, and viewers will get to vote for their favorites throughout the episode. One pair will be eliminated at the end of the night.

Then, on Wednesday, it’s the ladies’ turn. Tatyana Ali/Jan Ravnik, Giada de Laurentiis/Alan Bersten, Jenna Dewan/Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Amber Glenn/Pasha Pashkov, Maura Higgins/Mark Ballas, Ciara Miller/Brandon Armstrong, Sarah Jane Nader/Hailey Bills, and Julia Stiles/Ezra Sosa will be performing.

Again, they will be dancing to a song that topped the charts during the year they were born. There will be another elimination based on judges’ scores and viewer votes at the end of the night.

The last time there was a double elimination during the first week of competition was the shortened all-athletes season in 2018. “It’s not even an even playing field, right?” Ballas pointed out when he recently appeared on Hulu’s Get Real podcast. “It’s, like, the cast is split in half. They’re, kind of, like, ‘Boys over there, girls over here; one of you is going from each group.’ So, that’s a little different.”
