Bottoms up! Seven years after the boozy history lesson ended its run on Comedy Central, Drunk History is stumbling back into our lives.

The Emmy-winning comedy series is officially coming back seven years after its Comedy Central finale. Drunk History will return with three new short-form episodes, beginning September 15 on Comedy Central’s YouTube channel.

During its original six-season run, Drunk History became a cult favorite by turning real history into hilariously messy retellings, with famous faces reenacting every slurred detail. It also attracted an impressive list of guest stars over the years, making its very unconventional history lessons almost as memorable as the events themselves.

Here is everything we know so far about the revival.

When does Drunk History premiere?

The first episode will debut on Tuesday, September 15, on YouTube.

What is Drunk History about?

The first of the three episodes will feature Meghan Trainor as Madonna, who will recreate the pop icon’s legendary performance at the inaugural MTV Video Music Awards in which she wore a wedding dress and performed her hit single, “Like a Virgin,” a move that was considered risqué for the day.

Other new stories will focus on Frances Perkins, who was the key architect of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal, and the bizarre lifelong battle between two men to build the world’s largest ball of twine.

Who will star in Drunk History?

The new installments will feature returning players Steve Agee, Tim Baltz, Seth Green, Colin Hanks, Jack McBrayer, Chris Parnell, Johnny Pemberton, Daryl Sabara, Mae Whitman, and Weird Al Yankovic, along with Lisa Gilroy, Patton Oswalt, and Marisha Ray among the narrators.

Who is behind Drunk History?

Created by Derek Waters and Jeremy Konner, Drunk History began as a Funny or Die web series back in 2007, in the early days of viral videos. The series would then transition to Comedy Central as a half-hour comedy, where it ran for six seasons from 2013 to 2019. According to Variety, a seventh season was initially ordered, but was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic. Waters says the revival means the show has “a lot of catching up to do.”
