What To Know

  • Michael Weatherly returns as Anthony DiNozzo for a season-long arc in NCIS Season 24, starting with the October 6 premiere.
  • Executive producer Steven D. Binder reveals what reunites him with the team, plus reveals where Ziva is.

Who doesn’t want a little more Anthony DiNozzo in their lives? That’s the thought process that will be keeping Michael Weatherly along for a season-long arc on NCIS, beginning with the Tuesday, October 6, premiere.

As the Season 24 details of what brings Tony to D.C. reveal, his security firm is thriving once again, having moved past the events of his and Cote de Pablo‘s Paramount+ spinoff Tony & Ziva. In fact, he’s there to open up a satellite office, and it’s while he’s doing that that he’ll reunite with his former team.

“While trying to drum up new clients for his upstart satellite office, an old contact of Tony’s picks up some chatter involving NCIS. Tony is, of course, intrigued and decides to pay his old friends a surprise visit,” executive producer Steven D. Binder tells TV Insider. “Unfortunately, the reunion quickly goes sideways, and Tony finds himself in the middle of a five-alarm fire.”

He continues, “At some point, that fire will be put out — in no small part thanks to Tony — and the powers that be at the Pentagon decide they need a little more Anthony DiNozzo in their world. Luckily, since Tony was planning on staying in D.C. to be closer to his daughter, he’s more than happy to oblige.”

When Tony & Ziva ended, the titular pair were back together and even had permission from their daughter, Tali (Isla Gie). So far, we haven’t heard anything about de Pablo appearing on NCIS. So, what does that mean for the couple?

“Loving each other was never an issue. The problem has always been, can they be together without killing each other? And that’s the question that still needs to be answered,” Binder notes. “In our universe, Tali is now a few hours away in boarding school, and Ziva is there with her. Whether or not her path will cross with our agents in D.C. is still an ongoing question — but rest assured, her presence will definitely be felt!”

Tony was great back in the day, but I see no need for his return. The new team is doing just fine without him. And why would Ziva be with her daughter if she is at boarding school? That doesn't make any sense since a boarding school by definition provides room and board.

Totally agree, the show and current team are just fine as they are, don't need a showboat like DiNozzo.

Bad decision, Tony is a poor return. McGee for Director

      Tony made NCIS great.

    Wish TIVA would disappear forever.

The Chief was killed so in steps Tony to, eventually, become the "desk man" or the new boss. He has the background and was part of the team. It all makes lots of sense

It's only supposed to be a season long arc Hopefully he'll be a regular again with any luck.

Everything about Michael Weatherly is off-putting and unlikable. Get him gone.

Just looking forward to seeing Tony again. I'm sure his personality might be different these days but I will take what is given.

Don't need him back, he'll only get in the way.

I think he is there to shake up Roach, to clear the path for McGee.

I would like to see Tony and Ziva make it. I watched the series in Tony and Ziva I loved it that is what marriage is. With all the things that are happening now it’s good to see something good.

I didn't like DiNozzo. He needs to go away.

Reply to Lance….You are so right!!! Tiva should disappear forever and ever! I am so sad to see Dinozzo back. Why couldn’t you have left things alone? NCIS was perfect as it was WITHOUT him.

McGee should definitely get director and we need to see Delilah more with maybe McGee, Tony, and both wives becoming closer off job but always being pulled in crime scenes. On the job Tony could be undercover contract that McGee hired secretly as Agent to step in just in case Parker doesn't take him seriously as his new boss. It will be a challenge for McGee to go from coworker/friend and now boss without the team taking him seriously. Tony could come in as more mature and support McGee and have his back. So many possibilities of team dynamic challenges! You could even have 2 teams in that same office area. With Tony or Nick to eventually take the leader position of the second team.

Seems like all of my posts today are negative. Here's one more: I can't stand Michael Weatherly, so will skip the show while he's on it.

Hopefully, Tony will come to McGee's defense; because the actions of McGee's son, Mateo, is going to badly reflect on McGee, and I think LaRoche is going to try to use it against McGee somehow.

Tony and Ziva should have started on CBS and the show would have been renewed.

I love Tony back on NCIS. I still watch all of the NCIS showed that Tony and Ziva were in. I was so happy with NCIS Tony and Ziva it was a great show that was one reason I invested in that Paramount channel. Please find a way to include Ziva

NCIS is no longer watchable. Bad cast/characters and even worse storylines. Bring back Gibbs....he is the heart and soul of NCIS.

Did they forget that Ziva and Tony got married in the spinoff finale?

Parker has never really fit in, sorry he is not a good replacement for Gibs. The only reason I watch NCIS is because McGee is still there. McGee should be the new Director and Tony should take Parker’s place with a new team of agents. As McGee takes over as director he decides to bring Abby back. Just think the fun of having McGee as Tony’s “Boss”. There is no real chemistry with the current cast, they are not believable and they sound like a soap opera. Tony should had been Gibs replacement from the beginning, he was the heir apparent. Please work on the quality of the show and actors please!!
