Erin Napier has her social media followers in their feels with her latest Instagram post.
The HGTV star shares her two daughters, Helen and Mae, with her husband, Ben Napier. Though the couple primarily keeps their kids off of their social media feeds, Erin took to Instagram on Monday, July 27, to share a sweet moment she recently had with one of her daughters.
“‘Mama can we lay in your bed and read our books for a little while before bedtime?’ – Maybe my favorite parenting season yet!?!” Erin wrote alongside a snap of herself and one of her kids reading their separate books while lying in bed together.
Fans gushed over the adorable mother-daughter moment in the post’s comments, as well as shared their similar family memories. “My 18 year old daughter still comes in to do this, or draw in her sketch pad if she sees my light on reading and my husband is still watching his shows. Love this!” one person wrote. Another added, “I used to do this with my mom and when I heard my dad coming I’d lay as flat as could be under the covers to surprise him. He always acted surprised.”
Someone else shared, “We had a reading party tonight – all 4 of our little family cozied up with books before bedtime. Maybe the best type of party my little introvert heart has ever been to.” A different person posted, “And one day they want to get coffee and thrift with you, and watch Gilmore girls with you, my girls are 13 and 11 and these days are so special!” A different person posted, “My boys call it our ‘book club’ when we all read in my bed! It’s the best!!”

In another recent Instagram post, Erin got sentimental while celebrating one of her kids’ upcoming milestones. “Mae is about to start kindergarten,” she wrote on Thursday, July 23. “The night before Helen went to kindergarten, I drove to the store after she was in bed to get bacon for her special breakfast the next day. I turned on the song we listened to coming home from the hospital when she was born and cried so hard I couldn’t catch my breath, feeling her babyhood ending with such finality. I called my mama who laughed, because she didn’t have any memory of my first day of kindergarten.”
The Home Town star continued, “The great upside to homeschooling is I don’t have that feeling at all this time. We bought her school supplies and she was giddy putting those Ticonderogas and a 3 ring binder in the buggy. I’ll be there when she reads a sentence for the first time and she’s so excited to read a book on her own soon. We’ve figured out how to slow down the clock and savor these little years.”
Erin and Ben have been candid about their decision to homeschool their kids. “[Every time] when we say it, people are like, ‘Oh, did you hire a tutor?’ And we’re like, ‘No, we’re the tutors,'” Ben said in a December 2205 interview with People.
Erin, for her part, added, “Homeschooling. It’s not a non-negotiable, it’s what we’re trying this year. But they’ve never had devices, they’ve never held phones or tablets or iPads. We’re trying to live like it’s our childhood again. We let them watch things on TV, all of us together as a family. We have a movie night like every night, and it’s not like we don’t have TV time. We’re watching like Berenstain Bears, we watched Prancer this week. So living slower.”
