‘Kitchen Nightmares’ Sneak Peek: Gordon Ramsay Faces a Real Head-Scratcher

Gordon Ramsay will very literally be left scratching his head over the next Kitchen Nightmares case. In the above-embedded exclusive sneak peek at Tuesday’s (July 28) episode, the superstar chef goes toe to toe with the “boss lady” who runs Love on the Blu in Blue Island, Illinois, and the conversation descends into complete chaos.

The tension starts when Ramsay tells the owner, “Lunch wasn’t that good, I’ll be honest.”

When he then asks who designed the menu and its prices, the staff quickly points to their “boss lady,” and he questions her logic in pricing certain menu items.

“When you’re charging $40 for an omelet, that’s a lot of money,” Ramsay notes.

“Well, don’t come here,” she quickly replies.

A stunned Ramsay asks her to repeat: “So you say, ‘Don’t come here?'”

Undeterred, she reiterates, “If you cannot afford it, don’t come.”

Love on the Blu’s owner rationalizes that she’s paying $145 per case of eggs, but Ramsay suggests, “If that’s superexpensive, then don’t put that on the menu.”

He’s especially unimpressed that the item doesn’t live up to its billing as an omelet, and a staffer tries to help explain that because the lamb dish includes an egg, it’s an “illusion of an omelet.”

“An illusion? $45 for a lamb omelet illusional dish is a lot of money,” Ramsay says, mystified. When she then insists the dish does qualify as a “delicious omelet,” Ramsay asks plainly, “Are you delusional?”

Her response? “No, are you?”

At this, Ramsay can’t help but start scratching his head as he repeats with a scoff, “Am I delusional?!”

Clearly, these two are going to have some major differences to sort through if Ramsay’s going to make any real impact on the restaurant.

The official description for the episode reads, “Negative customer reviews, an unprofessional atmosphere, and sky-high prices have Love on the Blu on the brink of failure, while the owner’s hostile management style creates even more tension behind the scenes. When Gordon uncovers the root of the restaurant’s problems, he pushes the owner to confront the changes needed to save both her business and her team in the all-new ‘Love on the Blu’ episode of Kitchen Nightmares.”
