What To Know

  • CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss has reportedly adopted a friendlier, more hands-on management style.
  • This comes after the controversial firings of several 60 Minutes staff members.
  • Weiss now apparently celebrates staff achievements and has implemented an open-door policy.

CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss is reportedly trying a new approach to her management style following recent 60 Minutes firings that threw the network into turmoil.

According to the New York Post, Weiss has started taking a friendlier, more hands-on approach with staff in recent weeks. This reportedly includes beginning her Friday editorial calls by “celebrating” wins and highlighting specific individuals who have done good work that week.

One source told the outlet that Weiss’ new approach is a stark contrast to how she has acted since taking over the role in October 2025. “She made zero effort before, but since the 60 explosion, she’s been very nice to people,” the source said.

In May, Weiss fired 60 Minutes producers Draggan Mihailovich and Tanya Simon and correspondents Cecilia Vega and Sharyn Alfonsi. After longtime correspondent Scott Pelley spoke out against Weiss and the firings during a heated staff meeting, he, too, was dismissed.

After the 60 Minutes massacre, Weiss allegedly shut herself in, with the Status newsletter previously reporting that she hadn’t been seen on the newsroom floor in weeks. Instead, the Free Press co-founder had apparently remained in a sixth-floor office suite only accessible to execs.

The Post reports that this has now changed and Weiss has adopted an “open-door policy” in her office. Some sources believe that Weiss has been given “management training” to help her bond with staff.

“I think Bari has been given management training and told to develop relationships with existing staff and try to retain them,” a CBS staffer told the outlet, noting that she previously didn’t make an effort to mingle in the newsroom.

However, another network source told the Post that Weiss hadn’t received any management training since the 60 Minutes firings, adding that she’s had an open-door policy since joining CBS News in October.

Paramount CEO David Ellison appointed Weiss as CBS News editor-in-chief in October 2025 following the company’s merger with Skydance. Since then, Weiss has been putting her stamp on the network, including hiring, firing, promoting, and even pulling reports. Despite criticism, Paramount has stood by the Free Press co-founder.

Scari Weiss actually is not as educated as some believe(d).

She took her orders from Ellison (via Orange Felon & Abuser) and she will pay for it with her now worse Reputation and loss of Integrity. Trust is far from the equation at this point.
