‘The Five-Star Weekend’ Is Officially Returning for Season 2: All the Details
Peacock’s The Five-Star Weekend is an emotional rollercoaster, following famed foodie Hollis Shaw (Jennifer Garner) on her friend-fueled getaway to escape (and, ultimately, cope with) her grief after the sudden death of her husband.
The eight-episode series adapts Elin Hilderbrand’s 2023 novel of the same name and finds Hollis recruiting her best friends from every era of her life for a weekend away at her Nantucket manor. As meticulously planned as her calendar is, though, many surprises await the group.
While the ending is satisfying, some fans may be wondering if there’s more to the story still to come. Here’s what we know so far.
Is The Five-Star Weekend renewed for Season 2?
Yes! Although the book upon which it is based does not have a sequel at this time, Peacock has given the green light to a second season.
In a statement, Peacock scripted content head Lisa Katz said, “Audiences have completely embraced this wholly relatable story of friendship, and what it means to reconnect with the people in your life who truly make a difference. A huge thank you to our amazing cast, writers, directors, producers, and to our magical crew who all worked tirelessly to bring Elin’s enormously popular book to the screen, and to the audiences who enjoyed watching this summer escape as much as we enjoyed making it.”
Creator and EP Bekah Brunstetter added, “It’s such a joy and privilege to create a world that people want to keep living in. I’m so thrilled by the chance to give fans of the show more time with the stars, and dig even further into these incredible characters. Knowing how deeply committed they are to this trip, I can’t wait to take them on their next adventure.”
Who will star in The Five-Star Weekend Season 2?
It’s hard to imagine it going on without Jennifer Garner as the lead character Hollis Shaw. The series’ first season also stars Harlow Jane as her daughter, Caroline Shaw; Regina Hall as friend Dru-Ann Jones; Chloë Sevigny as life-long bestie Tatum McKenzie; D’Arcy Carden as Brooke Kirtley; Gemma Chan as Gigi Ling; Timothy Olyphant as Jack Finnigan; and Judy Greer as Electra.
Garner said of the renewal news, “Regina, Chloe, Gemma, D’Arcy, and I have had the best time talking to people about Five Star Weekend. We’re so happy you love it as much as we loved making it for you. If you’re curious about what’s going to happen next, imagine how we feel! We’re grateful to Elin, Bekah, our producers, directors, and Peacock for hosting the ultimate girls’ weekend that will be Season 2.”
What will happen in The Five-Star Weekend Season 2?
A logline for Season 2 has not been revealed. However, Brunstetter said she has been mulling ideas for Season 2. She told TV Insider, “I have all kinds [of ideas about what’s next]. I kind of have to keep them locked in my vaults, in my Season 2 vault, but I will say for sure that these women are gonna be friends going forward, and they’re going to discover new friendships within that. I think Brooke and Dru-Ann are going to develop a new friendship. I think Hollis and Tatum are going to start being in each other’s lives in a more day-to-day basis. That could be really cool to explore.”
The first season’s official description told us, “The Five-Star Weekend is centered on Hollis Shaw, a famed cook and best-selling author known for her delicious recipes, impeccable taste, and warm demeanor, who suffers a devastating loss. Unable to move forward, the death starts to expose the cracks in Hollis’s picture-perfect life—her strained marriage, her complicated relationship with her daughter, and her growing pursuit of validation from her fans. In an effort to overcome grief and find herself again, Hollis gets the idea to host a weekend away at her house on Nantucket with three friends from different stages in her life: her childhood, her twenties, thirties, and one surprise fifth star. Set against a luxurious and coastal backdrop, the stars will mature in ways they could never imagine as boundaries are pushed and secrets are exposed.”
