Fans fell in love with Martha Sitwell and her beloved pet bird, Hecate, on Ladies of London: The New Reign earlier this year, which is why news of the magpie’s death has devastated the Bravo community. Sitwell broke down in tears as she shared the loss in an Instagram video, where she revealed that the bird died by drowning.
“Hecate died yesterday,” Sitwell shared. “She drowned. She was always so cautious about water, and there was a tub I’d left outside that was too deep, but it was right next to her bath. I don’t understand why she went in it. It was a momentary lapse of concentration. I am so sorry”.
She continued, “When I couldn’t find her yesterday morning, the last place I thought to look was in that tub. She was so, so clever and so cautious about water. I am so sorry. I am so sorry everybody. I know you all loved her as much as I did and I’m completely shattered, I’m so sorry.”

Hecate regularly appeared on Ladies of London and often appeared on Sitwell’s social media. She previously revealed the story of how the bird came into her life.
“Hecate fell or was pushed from her nest as a tiny baby and wasn’t going to make it on her own,” Sitwell explained. “No parents were feeding, and one of my followers found her and knew that I’d rescue most things.”
Sitwell helped the bird get healthy and then made her a permanent fixture in her home. The reality star previously revealed her and her pet’s daily routine, sharing, “She wakes me up about 5 a.m. She gets up there and starts crashing around until the staff come and give her worms. And then quite often we’ll have a bath together and then I go off and walk my dogs, and she shouts at people through the window.”
She gushed over the beloved animal, noting that she was “obsessed” with her. “I just love spending time with her,” Sitwell said. “She’s clever and engaging and funny.”
