‘The View’ Ratings for JD Vance Interview Revealed

Ratings for The View‘s big interview with Vice President JD Vance are in. ABC reports that the daytime talk show enjoyed its most-watched telecast since November 2024’s post-election episode, thanks to the June 16 interview with Vance. It drew in 3.331 million viewers for the segment, which was also its second-most-watched episode since January 2021.

During the interview with Vance, the cohosts grilled him on a wide range of issues, including the affordability crisis, the Iran War, and the missing Jeffrey Epstein files, among other issues. The conversation, while civil, did become argumentative at key points in the discussion, particularly when it came to JD Vance’s defense of Donald Trump‘s dismissal of the inflation of goods and gas prices and the millions of files that are still unaccounted for in the child sex trafficking scandal. Other stats revealed by ABC for The View include that the week of June 15, which included the VP interview, boasted an average of 2.492 million total viewers, including 244,000 women in the 25 to 54 demographic and 189,000 in the 18 to 49 demographic. This was a 22 percent increase week to week, and ABC dubs it the largest overall audience in five months.

For the 29th season at large, the network added, The View has improved by 8 percent among women aged 25 to 54 and 6 percent among women aged 18 to 49, the strongest in three years. The show is also the only daytime talk show to grow in those female demographics, according to the release.

The View ranks number one in broadcast daytime talk shows for its ninth straight season, also.

This ratings news comes at a time when ABC is actively encouraging audience members to submit their comments to the FCC in relation to a discharge petition it has filed for the agency to designate it a legitimate news show for purposes of exception to the “equal time” rule. Presumably, since Vance is not an active candidate for office (yet, since he has not formally declared for the 2028 presidential run), his interview wouldn’t be at issue in the FCC’s crackdown on the show’s interviews of political candidates.
