Joy Behar Shocks ‘The View’ Cohosts With Her Unique Christmas Tradition

After digesting the latest political news on Friday’s (November 6) edition of The View, the cohosts got to the subject of a story that really matters (sense the sarcasm): When is the right time to put up winter holiday decorations after Halloween?

While each of the cohosts had their own unique take on when Christmas trees and other merriment should go up, Joy Behar absolutely stunned her fellow panelists when she shared her own very unique tradition.

“Well, I’m my mother’s girl. So Christmas Eve is when the tree would go up,” she said.

“Really?!” Sunny Hostin exclaimed in response.

“Is that an Italian thing?” Alyssa Farah Griffin then asked her.

“It’s my mother,” Behar revealed. “And then after midnight, she would take the little Jesus and put him in the thing.”

Sara Haines had more questions, though. “When do you take the tree down?!” she asked.

After Behar said she takes her tree down on New Year’s, Griffin was perplexed. “So it’s up for, like, five days?!” she asked. Haines was similarly confused, saying, “So, it’s up for one whoppin’ week?!”

“That’s enough,” Behar confirmed. But that wasn’t the end of the questions being lobbed her way after this striking revelation.

“How little of a tree are you putting up?” Hostin wondered.

“Is it like Charlie Brown [size]?” Haines added.

“What are you, writing a book?” Behar snapped back.

After, she pointed to the fact that Hostin earlier said she prefers to have a real tree in her home, which is why she waits until after Thanksgiving to put it up, and said she also prefers a real tree before adding, “But this year, I feel like I should have a blue tree… with some red balls,” as a nod to the blue tsunami in the 2026 midterm elections.

“Ohhh, I like that,” Hostin mused.

“I see what you did there,” Griffin added with a laugh.
