‘Home Town’ Hotel Owners Share Exciting Update Amid Fire Rebuild Process
What To Know
- The Heirloom Hotel shared an encouraging update amid its rebuild.
- HGTV’s Home Town: Inn This Together documented the hotel’s renovation process and the aftermath of its August 2025 fire.
- The owners previously revealed how fans could directly and indirectly support the rebuild.
In the weeks since the finale of Home Town: Inn This Together aired, the owners of the Heirloom Hotel have received an overflow of support from fans.
Erin and Ben Napier‘s HGTV Home Town spinoff wrapped its four-episode run on May 31. The series followed the couple and their friends, Jim and Mallorie Rasberry and Josh Nowell, as they renovated a building in Laurel, Mississippi, into the Heirloom Hotel. In addition to the renovation process, the series also featured the aftermath of the August 2025 fire that severely damaged the hotel and delayed its opening.
Last month, the hotel’s owners announced that fans could support the rebuild by purchasing photo rails made from the hotel’s original flooring. “What was lost was more than a building and something that so many people had poured into only for us to get SO close, yet never even get to open our doors,” they shared via Instagram on May 31. “Most everything was not salvageable but we couldn’t see these floors, that have seen so many generations, just be thrown in the dumpster too.”
The post continued, “A way we could bring these floors one more life, was for our team to make them into these photo rails for your home or any space that you want to display your cherished images or even heirloom recipes. It makes us feel encouraged as we look at these, that no matter how damaged—beautiful things can still come from the ashes.”
In a new update shared on the photo rails’ product page on the Laurel Mercantile website, the Rasberrys and the Nowells revealed that the photo rails have sold out.

“Wow, what an unbelievable display of support and encouragement you have shown to us and our whole team! We have been absolutely overwhelmed with orders and need time now to catch up on fulfilling them,” the message reads. “Rest assured, we are working hard to get your piece of the Heirloom in the mail as quickly as possible, so please be patient as we work to fulfill all of orders. Once we are caught up, we will restock and continue to offer as many Heirloom Photo Rails as we have materials to make.”
They added, “The emails, calls, texts, messages, and love we have received from everyone who has responded are simply inspiring. So many have brought us to tears. We can’t thank you all enough, and hope you’ll follow along as we work to Keep Building.”
Josh and Jim previously addressed why the group opted not to set up a GoFundMe page for the hotel’s rebuild on the May 30 episode of The Heirloom Podcast. Instead of donating to a GoFundMe, the duo asked fans to support their communities and local businesses.
“Find someone in your community who has suffered with fire or loss and fund them, help them. We are grateful for that, and I think that would go a lot further in your own community,” Josh told listeners. “So, thank you guys for offering to do that, but that would be my first recommendation on donations. Give it to people in your community who went through fire, charities, or churches that you trust in your community.”
Jim, for his part, added, “Somebody in your community is doing something that isn’t paying them, that isn’t building up their image in the community. They’re not doing it for themselves. They’re doing it for the people in your town. There’s somebody there, I promise. I want you to find them. I want you to find them and give them an encouraging word. And if you can’t help with money, help with time, even if it’s just one small little thing, because, man, those folks out there that are contributing because they feel like it’s what they’re supposed to do, they get discouraged.”

I also purchased an heirloom rail too but what I want to know is why their HGTV family isn't helping with the rebuild

I purchased an Heirloom rail right away as I'm a big fan of the show. My heart broke when I learned about the fire. I watched it being built. I will be watching as the team will rebuilt it.

What a beautiful way to honor a 95 year old landmark that was so much a part of peoples lifes. To keep the original building alive with making picture rails from its soul the flooring. I too purchased 3 pieces for myself and 2 daughters who have been fans since the beginning. How honored we feel to have a peice of history. Of your history. Wish more people reserved and respected the history of these old buildings that seem to get in the way of todays times. Wish you all blessings in accomplishing the rebuild of your history.

Did they not have insurance?

This show is airing in Australia at the moment, and it was so distressing to know that all of the hard work of reviving the building was wiped out in that fire. I have been watching the podcasts made during and after the fire, and seeing the resilience and calmness of the two couples that have been so badly affected is amazing. I really hope that the insurance company sorts itself out soon and that Jim, Mallory, Josh and Emily are able to move forward with whatever they decide is feasible for the hotel. To see such caring for each other and the community they are revitalising makes us all want to be better people.

What about the debt they incurred? Will insurance cover it? Is Josh ok after thinking this validated him... not that he needed it. He is amazing no matter what!
