HGTV’s Erin Napier Reveals Meaningful Gift She Got From Husband Ben Napier

Ahead of the Father’s Day weekend, Erin Napier is reflecting on the meaningful Mother’s Day gift she received from her husband, Ben Napier.

“In 1997 my parents bought a brand new Jeep Cherokee Country. Olive green with a tweed interior,” she wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, June 17. “We drove it all over America, and in 2002 it became mine because I was playing a lot of shows and needed to haul my amp and guitars.”

The Home Town star noted that in 2004, the car “got totaled by a driver coming over a blind hill on my side of the road.” She added, “I was heartbroken. It had a Blind Melon sticker on the back windshield and @countingcrows’ Recovering the Satellites in the CD player. I would still be driving it today if that accident had never happened.”

Erin noted that Ben “has been searching the country for one exactly like it since we met,” and though many cars “came close,” none were ever the perfect choice. “Until this year for Mother’s Day, he surprised me,” she revealed. “It was exactly like mine, with very few miles on it, hiding out in North Carolina. I am 20 again when I drive it. My mama cried a little when I drove up their driveway in it. She said it felt like we went back in time.”

Erin concluded the post on a sweet note, sharing, “Now my girls pick the CD we play from my CD books in the backseat.” (The HGTV stars share daughters Helen and Mae.) The post featured a photo Erin took of her new car, which she matched up with a throwback photo of herself with the original vehicle.

Fans gushed over Ben’s sentimental gesture in the post’s comments. “I showed this to my husband as I also have a deeply beloved Jeep (Liberty) in my past. He said ‘listen, let me give you some good advice. If you ever get the chance to marry Ben Napier, take it. Otherwise you’re stuck with me,'” one user joked.

Another wrote, “Ah! I had a Jeep Cherokee too but mine was red! I can’t see a Cherokee without hearing matchbox 20. Those were the days!” Someone else shared, “What a sweet story! Something about those first cars that we connect so deeply with. It defines us, gives us our first taste of freedom. Good job Ben! Create those memories with your girls.”

Erin gushed about her husband in the comments section, writing, “Y’all. He also bought any CDs he thought I would have loved back then to make sure they were always in the console. He KNOWS me.”

Erin and Ben tied the knot in 2008 and welcomed their kids in 2018 and 2021. The pair have been HGTV mainstays since their flagship home renovation series, Home Town, premiered in 2016.

The couple’s latest series, Home Town: Inn This Together, wrapped its four-episode run last month. The series followed Erin and Ben as they helped their friends — Jim and Mallorie Rasberry and Josh Nowell — transform a building in Laurel, Mississippi, into the Heirloom Hotel. The show documented the hotel’s renovation process and addressed the August 2025 fire that caused severe damage and delayed the hotel’s opening.
