Nick Pasqual, an actor whose credits include How I Met Your Mother and Archive 81, has been sentenced to 32 years to life in prison for attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend, Hollywood makeup artist Allie Shehorn.

As reported last month, jurors found Pasqual guilty of attempted murder, first-degree burglary, forcible rape, and injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend, or a child’s parent. The charges stemmed from an attack on Shehorn on May 23, 2024, when Pasqual reportedly stabbed her over 20 times.

Shehorn attended the sentencing at the San Fernando Courthouse on Tuesday (June 2). “When I was lying on the floor in a pool of my own blood, I remembered wondering if this was how my life was going to end,” she told the court, per ABC Eyewitness News 7. “I was terrified, I was in pain.”

She also addressed Pasqual directly, saying, “You, who I had once trusted, decided my life was something that you could take away.”

Shehorn has worked as a special effects and makeup artist on the 2024 Mean Girls musical film adaptation, Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon (which also starred Pasqual), and the recent horror hit Obsession.

Appearing with visible scars on her neck and arms, Shehorn told the court, “I locked the door and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open, and I just ran into the bathroom because I thought there’s another lock on that door.”

As previously reported, Shehorn was found later in the day by her surrogate mother, while Pasqual fled the scene before being detained at a U.S./Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas.

Pasqual, through his representatives, shared a statement on the ruling with Entertainment Weekly, saying, “I remain deeply saddened by everything surrounding this case, and I continue to wish healing and peace for everyone affected. I am grateful to those who have supported me during this process, and I intend to remain focused on sobriety, recovery, accountability, and a respectful appellate process moving forward.”

Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman also released a statement, commending Shehorn’s bravery in her testimony.

“Today’s 32 years to life sentence holds Nick Pasqual accountable for the horrific crimes he committed against someone who once loved and trusted him,” Hochman stated. “Allie Shehorn miraculously survived and courageously stood before her abuser in court to testify about the brutality she endured. Her trial testimony was crucial in securing a guilty verdict so Mr. Pasqual could no longer be free to hurt anyone else. Today at his sentencing, she gave a powerful victim impact statement.”
