Al Roker Reveals He Was Tested for Hantavirus After Daughter Leila’s Wedding

Congratulations are in order for Al Roker‘s daughter, Leila Roker, who tied the knot with Sylvain Gricourt this past weekend. But there was some drama after the nuptials when the beloved weatherman was tested for hantavirus.

The Today show meteorologist revealed the news on Tuesday’s (May 12) episode while the hosts were discussing the hantavirus outbreak aboard the MV Hondius cruise ship. Al said he took a voluntary test while returning from Europe over the weekend.

“I was coming from Europe this weekend from my daughter’s wedding, and the CDC was asking people to voluntarily test,” Al shared. “But they didn’t say for what, so I just wonder if it was a precaution here.”

Al previously revealed Leila (27) would be getting married in an interview with Swooon earlier this month. “Our daughter, Leila, is getting married, just before Mother’s Day. That Mother’s Day weekend, actually,” he told the outlet. “So, that’s kind of her Mother’s Day gift, I guess.”

Leila is the daughter of Al and his third wife, journalist Deborah Roberts, whom he married in September 1995. Al and Roberts also share a son, Nicholas (23). Al also adopted a daughter, Courtney, with his second wife, Alice Bell, in 1987.

In a March 2025 Instagram post, Leila announced her engagement to Gricourt. “8 years ago, I moved to Paris, 7 years ago I met my person and best friend, and 2 days ago, that person took me on the most amazing surprise trip to Venice to ask me to spend the rest of our lives together,” she wrote alongside a slideshow of photos from a Venice restaurant where Gricourt popped the question.

Appearing on Live with Kelly and Mark back in October, Roberts said her daughter and future son-in-law intended to have a “small ceremony in France because she lives in Paris.” However, she noted they plan to have a celebration in the U.S. too, where “well blow the budget.”
