What To Know

  • On Today, Alix Earle awkwardly avoided questions about her alleged feud with Alex Cooper.
  • The rumored tension between the influencers began when Cooper’s media company dropped Earle’s podcast last year.
  • Fans shared their mixed reactions to Earle’s response to the questions via social media.

Alix Earle‘s interview on Today took an awkward turn when her alleged feud with Alex Cooper was mentioned.

The two influencers have allegedly been at odds since Cooper’s media company, Unwell Network, dropped Earle’s Hot Mess podcast in February 2025. Over the past year, the two influencers have continued to throw shade at each other via social media.

Craig Melvin brought up the topic, without directly naming Cooper, while chatting with Earle on the third hour of Today‘s Tuesday, May 12, episode. “There’s been this back and forth between you and another internet personality, a podcaster as well,” he stated. “[There] seems to be a bit of online beef. What’s actually happening? What’s really going on?”

Earle chose not to answer, and instead awkwardly tried to steer the conversation back to her 2026 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover. “Well, I’m trying to keep things pretty positive today. We don’t have that much time here, honestly,” she told Melvin. “And also, it’s like, why ruin such a good day with something not so great? Let’s keep the positive vibes going.”

Melvin followed up by asking, “But is there some sort of legitimate contentiousness, or has it all been exaggerated?” Earle replied with a smile, “No, it’s exaggerated. I love everyone.”

Melvin wrapped up the topic by stating, “Okay. I mean, I’m not buying it, but I’ll let you go. We’ll move on.”

Fans reacted to the on-air moment via social media. “Love her response,” one person wrote underneath a clip of the interview on Today‘s Instagram page. Another added, “Her publicist did well.” Someone else shared, “You tried Craig!”

A different person posted, “Her PR Team did a great job with Media Training haha.” A separate commenter stated, “She def wasn’t ready at all for that or expecting.” Someone else commented, “It’s kind of sad that the today show has been reduced to this kind of nonsense.” One person quipped, “Listen, I’m glad Craig went for it.”

While the interview was focused on Earle’s 2026 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover, Dylan Dreyer revealed that she and the influencer are actually second cousins. However, they had never met until attending The Kentucky Derby a few years ago.

Before they met for the first time, Earle said she grew up watching Dreyer on Today. “I took a broadcasting course in college. It was, like, a little club after school, and I was not very good at it, so I quit. But I always wanted to be just like you,” she told Dreyer. “This is all so cool, getting to sit here and do this with you on such a special day.”

Dreyer quipped, “And the route you took worked out just fine.”
