Fox News’ Kayleigh McEnany Reacts After Viewers Mock Her Lunch Choices
What To Know
- Kayleigh McEnany received criticism on Instagram for microwaving meals with plastic and for relying on pre-packaged dinners.
- Responding to fan advice, she switched to homemade lunches and began using an aluminum mug.
- While most fans praised her healthier choices and reduced plastic use, some continued to offer suggestions.
Kayleigh McEnany has been updating her Instagram followers on her eating habits in her regular ‘Cooking with Kayleigh’ segments, including showing off her packed lunches.
The Fox News host was initially mocked by commenters for not taking the plastic off a microwavable meal before putting it in the microwave. In an update shared on March 30, McEnany said she’d learned her lesson and would remember to take the plastic off her Amy’s Organic Mac n Cheese.
However, many fans were still disappointed that she was eating microwave meals, with one commenter writing, “Microwave TV dinner in a plastic-lined paper bowl for lunch” alongside a photo of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“I highly recommend NOT using microwaves,” said another. “I know it’s inconvenient, but the only thing a microwave is good for is hot water. The radio waves kill all the good stuff. It takes about 40 days of no microwave cooking, but the difference is amazing. Love the show.”

Trump’s former White House Press Secretary returned on Wednesday (April 1) with another video, this time showing that she’d given up microwave meals.
“This is homemade. I made this. It’s actually a combined two meals,” she explained as she removed the lid of a container. “Beef with peppers and rice, and, on a separate day, I made chicken with broccoli, so I just kind of combined it all to this beautiful southwestern dish.”
“‘It is gonna be great, but it wouldn’t be great without sriracha sauce,” she added, pulling out a big bottle of sriracha.
McEnany also said she’d taken advice about microplastics and switched from drinking her green tea from a mug with plastic lining to one made of aluminum. “I’m slowly getting better and better,” she said.
Most fans seemed to be happy with the changes, with one Instagram user writing, “Those changes are worth making. Anyone can reduce plastic consumption.”
“Finally eating well!” said another.
Another quipped, “She could beat Bobby flay!”
“Well done Mac. Well done. Harvard Grads love Siracha,” said one user.
However, some still had advice, especially regarding McEnany’s pre-packaged cheese. “Please shred your own cheese!!! The pre-shredded is coated with stuff so it won’t clump together!” wrote one commenter.
“Shred your own cheese from a block so much powdered stuff goes in pre shreded cheese thats not good for you,” added another.
“Thanks for tonight’s dinner idea! Please only use block cheese though,” another said.
