We didn’t go into The Hunting Wives expecting a fiery queer romance. The new Netflix drama revolves around a gaggle of conservative, East Texan housewives, but it didn’t take long for us to realize that there’s a lot more to them than meets the eye. Especially when it comes to the group’s ringleader, Margo Banks (Malin Åkerman).
Margo, whose husband is a Republican political candidate (Dermot Mulroney), starts seducing liberal Sophie (Brittany Snow) as soon as she moves to their small town. From there, Sophie quickly falls under her spell, shedding her anxious, uptight exterior. “There’s something about them coming together that brings out the authenticity of who they are because they’re both wearing certain veneers when we meet them — protective layers, if you want to say so much,” Akerman told TV Insider.
