‘The Day of the Jackal’ Season 2: New Details Revealed
Although the first season’s finale for The Day of the Jackal managed to tie up enough loose ends to leave fans satisfied with the ending, there are still some major question marks looming ahead of Season 2, and now the second season of the series is well into production.
The Peacock thriller series was renewed ahead of the Season 1 finale, and details about the forthcoming follow-up season are already starting to come into focus, including two stars who’ve joined the assassin thriller. Here’s a look at everything we know so far about The Day of the Jackal Season 2 and what questions remain after the events of the finale.
When will The Day of the Jackal Season 2 premiere?
Peacock has revealed that the second season of the streaming series will premiere in 2027. The prior season was produced in late summer and autumn in 2023 and premiered in fall 2024. Production on the series is underway, and key spottings of the set have been revealed in locations like Romania, Moldova, and Spain.

Who will star in The Day of the Jackal Season 2?
A full cast list for Season 2 has now been announced. Eddie Redmayne will indeed return as the Jackal. Joining him in returning for Season 2 Úrsula Corberó as his wife, Nuria, Charles Dance as the Jackal’s mysterious employer and billionaire, Timothy Winthrop, and Eleanor Matsuura as the Jackal’s liaison to his employer, Zina Jansone. Joining the new season in mystery roles are Weruche Opia and Pablo Schreiber.
Peacock has also confirmed Matt Bomer will join the cast for Season 2.
Also surviving the events of Season 1 were Lia Williams as Bianca’s MI-6 boss, Isabel Kirby, Chukwudi Iwuji as agent Osita Halcrow, Sule Rimi as Bianca’s husband Paul Pullman, Ben Hall as MI-6 agent Damian Richardson, Jonjo O’Neill as Edward Carver, Adam James as Jeremy Whitelock, and Florisa Kamara as Jasmine Pullman.
On the creative side, there is a bit of a shakeup in Season 2. According to Variety, series creator Ronan Bennett will not be writing for Season 2 (but will stay on as executive producer), while David Harrower (Lockerbie: A Search for Truth) takes over as the series’ primary writer.
Where did The Day of the Jackal Season 1 leave off?
At the end of the first season, Jackal killed Bianca, the MI-6 agent who had been on his tail all season long and was sent to assassinate him by her boss, Isabel, who was indirectly working for the Jackal’s boss, billionaire Timothy Winthorp. Bianca was survived by her husband Paul and daughter Jasmine. Though Jackal was successful in thwarting the attack, he was not successful in keeping his wife Nuria and their baby son around; she took off before he could catch up to her, and her whereabouts are currently unknown. Also surviving a likely assassination attack was Zina, who decided to reveal Winthorp’s identity to the Jackal after he sent someone to apparently kill her. The Jackal, still recovering from the wreck, said he had to see someone before dealing with Winthorp, however.
What will happen in The Day of the Jackal Season 2?
A plot for the second season of the series has not yet been revealed, but in an announcement teaser for the new season, Redmayne teased, “If there’s one thing the Jackal can’t stand, it’s a loose end.”
Redmayne also told TV Insider he does believe the Jackal intends to reunite with Nuria, and that’s the person he said he has to see before he can settle his debts with Winthorp: “I believe he’s deeply in love with her. This guy was a lone wolf after what happened in Afghanistan. He had made a life choice that was about seclusion and solitude. And then he met this human being who opened something in him, and his Achilles heel was the arrogance to believe he could juggle those two things. Now, the instability seems to be ripping him open a bit.”
Meanwhile, executive producer Gareth Naeme teased a bit of a return to story form in Season 2, saying, “We’ve been tracking how the show’s run and what people enjoy, and I think the premise of the assassin, how he works, who he works for, who employs his services, how he carries out his missions, people seem to be very drawn to that, and I guess we’ll continue in that vein.”
He also said that since the Jackal has begun to learn that maybe he can’t maintain the balance of family and his career, “the whole thing is really, can he — I would imagine, let’s see where we go — can he get her back? Can he build a normal life? But at the same time, can he let go of this addiction he has?”

Well my buddy. That actress playing Bianca wasn't donut obsessed. She was actually pregnant with her 1st child. Also, Bianca might just be alive! 1st clue is that in real life, she's one of the producers of the show. 2nd clue is that you only saw a bit of blood, not a puddle like a head or liver shot. My guess is she reappears at the end of season 2 with info on Jackals wife and child, as she wants his help finding the mole in MI6!!

That was rude. This is tv show. No need to judge personally. And donut eating or not, I'm sure you couldn't do any better. In the real world, well-trained officers come in all sizes and shades. Also, the reason her plan to take him alive was thwarted was because of the loser a** brother coming in and making the block hot. Once the jackal heard their gunshots, he cut the lights and went on the offense and fired at them first. Also, why are you replaying scenes of people being killed....yuck

she was absolutely smart. She made it all the way to find him at his home. duh! What she needed was more support and obviously that wasn't happening considering they were setting her up from the start. Also, the jackal definitely had the advantage since it was his home turf. I don't like the ending, but hey, actors have to move on.

I see lots of wery negative about Bianca, but it seem baseless. The Jackal's mishandling of personal life forced him to take some wery visible risk to rectify problem he create with his lack of focus on home life. Eliminating the guy shaking down his brother in law threw up major red flag. But without familiarity with his methods, those are connections that could be easily miss, especially with her own leadership undermining her work on the case. Sniper attacks are wery rare, so is plausible that reasonably intelligent investigator could make connection she made. She was relentless. Is this quality what set her apart. And she did not underestimate The Jackal. What she say before trying to take him alone on his home turf, she seemed to know odds were against her and that she may not survive, but she was a soldier, a warfighter before she was investigator. True soldier like her is soldier always. That instinct never goes away. She also knew it was closest she would ever get to find him. He would go to ground and she knew her time as investigator was over anyway after this, so she saw as the only chance to complete mission. I think she know her chances was not good, but a soldier accepts that.

Great acting, great series.
If he plans on working, he should let his wife and child be otherwise, he will be putting their life at risk. If he can, he could keep track remotely (like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible) or forget about them, reinvent himself and keep on living. However, I don’t think he will ever be free to live a normal life.

if you like this series (and I do !!!) then you should all read "Shibumi" by Trevanian ... after you do you'll see the parallels of book/series... and also be entertained by a great novel ...!!!

This release model works for streaming services such as Netflix, and EU audiences. I think we here in the US are a bit spoiled with annual seasons

I'm betting Bianca is alive! In real life she's one of the producers of the show! It's a huge hit. Also she was pregnant. and just had a baby. She wasn't slow and clunky for no reason. The character of Bianca was not head shot, or laying in a big puddle of blood at the end of last season. My guess is she returns at the end of season 2 offering info on Jackals wife and child. In order for him to help her finding the mole in mi6!!
