Mira Sorvino might not have mastered the dancefloor, but she certainly knows her trivia, enough to see her win Wednesday (October 25) night’s edition of Celebrity Jeopardy!

The Jeopardy! victory came just one night after the Oscar winner’s surprising exit from Dancing With the Stars, where she became the fifth person eliminated from the season.

Sorvino, who was partnered with Gleb Savchenko for the ABC dancing competition series, performed a routine to Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” on Tuesday’s (October 24) episode, which included a guest appearance from Sorvino’s daughter, Mattea, who is also a dancer.

Unfortunately, the dance only scored 22 out of 30, which put her and Savchenko in eighth place out of 10. There was still a chance Sorvino could make it through to next week after the fan vote, but it just wasn’t meant to be, as she and Savchenko were eliminated.

“It’s been incredible,” Sorvino said, struggling to hold back her tears. “It’s been lots of dreams come true and I’m very grateful.”

However, things ended on a much happier note for the Mighty Aphrodite actress on Wednesday’s Celebrity Jeopardy!, where she faced off against CSI: Miami actor Adam Rodriguez and NFL Network host Peter Schrager.

Sorvino told host Ken Jennings that she’d been practicing for the show using the official Jeopardy! app, noting she only used the free version and was constantly interrupted by advertisements. Jennings pointed out the real show is also interrupted by commercials, so it perhaps prepared her for the real thing even more.

The practice obviously helped as Sorvino led the competition heading into Final Jeopardy with $12,200, though Schrager was close on her tail with only $400 less than her. All three players answered the final clue correctly, with Schrager wagering big, taking his total to $19,000 and putting the pressure on Sorvino.

Luckily, Sorvino wagered big, too, betting all but $200 of her money and giving her a winning total of $24,200.

Jennings praised the Shining Vale star after her win, letting her know that she is only the second Oscar winner to appear on the show after Jodie Foster. “That’s daunting company,” Sorvino said. “That’s cool.”

“So I guess maybe there’s a JGOT,” Jennings quipped, referring to the EGOT, the achievement of having won all four of the major American entertainment awards (an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony). “You’ve won Jeopardy!, you’ve won an Oscar… I don’t know what the acronym is, but would you like to go for the full whatever it is?”

“Sure, sure, yeah,” Sorvino laughed.

Sorvino’s winnings will go to the UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking in Persons, which was established in 2010 within the UN Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons.
