Set in the 22nd century, after a global nuclear catastrophe, the role-playing game unfolds in a world scarred by devastation, where survivors residing in underground “vaults” must brave the radioactive wasteland to secure resources essential for their survival and the welfare of their communities. The upcoming TV series, crafted by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creative minds behind Westworld, offers an original narrative within the Fallout universe, officially recognized as part of the game’s storyline.

The series boasts a diverse cast, featuring Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets), Walton Goggins (The Righteous Gemstones), Moisés Arias (The King of Staten Island), Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks), Sarita Choudhury (And Just Like That…), Michael Emerson (Evil), Leslie Uggams (Empire), Frances Turner (New Amsterdam), Zach Cherry (Severance), Johnny Pemberton (Superstore), Rodrigo Luzzi (Dead Ringers), Aaron Moten (Next),  Annabel O’Hagan (Law & Order: SVU), Dave Register (F.B.I.), and Xelia Mendes-Jones (The Wheel of Time).

Fallout has been met with critical and financial success and is considered one of the best video games ever. The latest game, Fallout 76, was released in 2018.

Spearheaded by executive producers, writers, and co-showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel) and Graham Wagner (Silicon Valley), with the oversight of Nolan and Joy, known for their work on Westworld, the series is poised to offer a unique insight into the Fallout universe.

The TV adaptation was first announced in July 2020 and is produced by Amazon Studios and Kilter Films in association with the games’ producers Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks. Athena Wickham of Kilter, Todd Howard of Bethesda Game Studios, and James Altman of Bethesda Softworks will serve as exec producers alongside Nolan, Joy, Robertson-Dworet, Wagner, and Lionsgate.
