‘Atlanta’ Ending With Season 4 on FX
The good news is we still have two seasons of Atlanta to watch. The bad news is that’s it for the FX award-winning comedy.
The series will end with its fourth season, set to premiere in the fall, FX chairman John Landgraf revealed during the network’s Television Critics Association press tour. (The series was renewed in August 2019.) “After a four year absence, we’re graced with the return of Atlanta. Donald Glover and his team have shot the final two seasons of the series,” Landgraf said (via Deadline). “The new season is everything you’d expect from Atlanta — which is to say expect the unexpected. Sit back and enjoy the trip.”
Atlanta‘s third season will be premiering on Thursday, March 24 at 10/9c, with back-to-back episodes. This comes following a three-year hiatus, which means the new episodes will be the first to be available in-season to stream on Hulu. (You can watch the first two seasons on the streaming service now.)
“Once again, Donald Glover, the producers and stellar cast have delivered another signature season synonymous with the excellence that makes Atlanta so great,” said Eric Schrier, President, FX Entertainment when the premiere date was announced.
Season 3 takes place almost entirely in Europe and finds Earn (Glover), Alfred/Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry), Darius (LaKeith Stanfield), and Van (Zazie Beetz) in the midst of a successful European tour. The group will navigate their new surroundings as outsiders and struggle to adjust to the newfound success they had aspired to.
Atlanta is executive produced by Donald Glover, Stephen Glover, Hiro Murai, Stefani Robinson, Paul Simms, and Dianne McGunigle. The 14 Emmy nominations it received for its second season on 2018 were the most of any comedy series. It has won five Emmys, two Golden Globes, two AFI Awards, Peabody, PGA, WGA, TCA, NAACP, and Critics’ Choice Awards.
