The Walking Dead Universe is expanding this summer, and we now have the first casting news for its new one-hour episodic anthology.

AMC Networks announced that Anthony Edwards (ERInventing Anna), Parker Posey (Lost in Space, The Staircase), Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Arrested Development), Poppy Liu (Dead Ringers, Hacks), and Jillian Bell (Rough NightWorkaholics) will star in Tales of the Walking Dead. These six original, standalone stories are focused on both new and established characters within the walker apocalypse. The series will premiere this summer on AMC and AMC+.

“Anthony, Jillian, Terry, Parker, and Poppy are the first wave of singular talents who will further expand the Walking Dead Universe into harrowing, hilarious, heartfelt, and horrifying new realms and we couldn’t be happier to welcome them to the family, along with these terrific directors.  More announcements, more wonderful folks to come,” said chief content officer of the Walking Dead Universe Scott M. Gimple in a statement.

Haifaa al-Mansour, Deborah Kampmeier, and Tara Nicole Weyr will each direct an episode, with series producer Michael Satrazemis set to direct the other three. Showrunner Channing Powell and Gimple executive produce.

“We’ve worked hard to create unique, interesting and unexpected characters for both old and new TWD fans, and I’m thrilled that these are the actors who will bring them to life. I can’t wait for you to see the depth, drama, terror and, yes, humor they bring to the screen,” added Powell.

This new anthology is coming as The Walking Dead continues its 11th and final season, with the second of three parts premiering on Sunday, February 20.
