Emmys 2016: Julia Louis-Dreyfus Wins Again, Apologizes for Trump, Pays Tribute to Father
While it’s no surprise that Julia Louis-Dreyfus won for the fifth time in a row for Veep (her sixth lead award, making her the first to do that), the raw emotion of her speech was a bit of a shock, especially in light of her loss a few days ago.

At the beginning of her speech, she thanked David Mandel, the show’s new showrunner, for being “tricked” into taking charge of the show from Armando Iannucci, then hilariously apologized for the show going from a “funny satire” to a “sobering documentary” given this year’s political environment.

Then her hands started shaking as she dedicated her win to her father, who passed away this past Friday.
