Carly Pope Shoots Over to ‘Arrow’
Arrow is taking on a new shade of green in Season 5 with the latest cast addition.
The CW has revealed to TV Insider that Carly Pope will be taking on the recurring role of Susan Williams, a journalist from nearby Coast City who comes to Star City “looking to make a name for herself” by targeting Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) for a big story. If all of this sounds a little familiar to fans of the DC Universe, that’s because in the comics, Williams is married to Jim Jordan, the little brother of Coast City’s resident Green Lantern, Hal Jordan.

This is the second sweet gig the wrongfully underrated Pope has booked this summer: She is currently shooting an arc on the next season of Suits as an architect who may or may not have designs on Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman). Previously, she guested on The CW’s The Tomorrow People and those of you with awesome taste will remember and love Pope from her stint as Sam McPherson on the late, great Popular. Her first Arrow appearance is slated for the fifth season’s third episode.
So whattaya think? Is this a possible sign of Lanterns to come? Or maybe trouble for Olicity?
Arrow returns Wednesday, October 7, 8/7c, The CW.

To be honest I don't want to see olicity anymore, I want Oliver and black canary. Olicity really distract from the storylin . Felicity decided to walk away from Oliver, so let Oliver find love somewhere else.

I love Carly Pope! Everyone needs to calm down on the "trouble for Olicity" talk, though. Come on.

Love the actress. I hope she's not trouble for Olicity. The last thing we need is a new love interest for Oliver. If he started dating someone else that just means everything he said last season about wanting to marry Felicity and how she's his "always" was all a lie or didn't really mean all that much. I'd prefer it if Olicity just work through their issues.

Gotta love how insecure Olicity nutcases are.
The article says nothing about the new character being a love interest.

Thank you this shit is sad.

I don't think it's about being insecure. It's about knowing how crap the Arrow writers are and how they rely on tropes and unnecessary drama. And the article actually says 'Or maybe trouble for Olicity?' and people are just responding to that comment. But good for you that you took the time to comment just to insult people.

And good for you for finding time to reply to me with this nonsensical post.

Reporters have a niche for snooping around so hopeful Oliver and company keep the doors locked at the lair. So far anyone has been able to get in.
I do hope no angst crap for Oliver and Felicity those two have met the quota and need to just get married and those nerdy babies.
Focus on the bad guys for the angst and leave the heroes react and live for the moment.

I agree with Aa. The point of their split was for Oliver to realize, or find his own light. Right before this stupid lie, or more so the lack of trust to some degree they dismantled one of the best on screen mature relationship with Oliver & Felicity with no time for any type of resolution for not only Olicity, other characters as well because there was no time. This particular angst to me was ridiculous especially because of where they were at as z couple & made characters such as Thea completely hypocritical with the fact how she took off because of all the lies that were told to her was pushing for Oliver to do the thing she was so angry at him for with her.
Let Arrow get back to Arrow. Arrow dedicated at least 7 of its episodes concentrating on Legends characters of Ray (shrinking man) & Sarah (risen from the grave) & 2 crossover episodes which equals 9 of its 23 episodes for other shows which took away from its own Arc & left the season all over the place & unfinished IMO.
I hope for season 5 Arrow gets back to what made me fall in love with this show. The OTA dynamic & banter & Olicity working as a couple within the team with no ridiculous angst of drama fighting off the villians & criminals.

If she is Oliver's love interest, it might finally be the thing that gets me to quit. I've stuck out 2 less than average seasons and everything I enjoy about the show seems like a distant dream. Olicity being together and happy again (like they were in 4A before he lied) is the only thing that had kept me hanging on but this makes me wonder why I should bother. Wait and see until her intro but then I might be out 100%.

Nope. I watch the show for many reasons but most of the reasons no longer exist. Olicity were one of the last threads that kept me hanging on. Read my comment again, asshole.

Nope. I watch the show for many reasons but most of them don't exist anymore because the show has gone downhill. Olicity were the last remaining thread keeping me hanging on. Read my comment again.

Bring back Janina Gavankar as Detective McKenna Hall from season 1. She has been my favorite love interest for Oliver.

She was the worst. So boring.
-
B
I can see that. She would not make for an interesting TV show. It I was Oliver and I had a choice I would still pick her. I also just realized that her storyline is very similar to Patty Spivot in The Flash. A cop, sort of an ideal love interest that is completely in love with the main character and then chooses to leave town.

Just what we needed.. Another white girl.

Honestly, at this point the writers have gone so far away from a 'good story' for Olicity (needless angst in S4, no resolution...) that she probably IS going to be a love interest.
-
P
I really doubt it. Especially with the reporter trying to most likely expose anything on Oliver Queen. I could see her questioning how Arrow died in 3x18 and expose that Roy Harper is alive, causing Roy to appear.

Omg NO! We don't need bad actors to return. Colton Haynes is the worst!

The writers seem keen to pander to the comic fans atm with all the comic book 'heroes' that have been added (while we have had NO news on Felicity at all this hiatus), so i can see them keeping Olicity apart....maybe they'll have her working to try and expose Oliver/GA and the old cliche of 'sparks flying'. Or it'll be like S1 where Oliver dated McKenna to get info....this time it'll be done TO oliver. I wouldn't trust the writers at this point.
