All About ‘Sense and Sensibility’ Star George MacKay’s Wife & Their Family
Though Edward Ferrars’ love life is complicated in Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility — he’s engaged while falling for Elinor Dashwood — actor George MacKay‘s is much simpler. The 34-year-old, who stars in the 2026 adaptation alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones, has been married for years.
His relationship even began as a short of showmance, though Doone Forsyth worked behind-the-scenes rather than in front of the camera. As MacKay steps into the spotlight in the new period romance, what’s the latest on his personal life? Scroll to find out everything he’s said about his wife and family.
Who is George MacKay’s wife?
Forsyth is a Scottish makeup artist, with her first film project dating back to 2011. She’s been attached to some major productions, many of them being period dramas. We’re talking Downton Abbey, The Crown, and 1917, the latter of which her husband starred in. More recently, she worked on The Batman and Blitz.
MacKay recently told The Telegraph that Forsyth supports him in his work. She even did his grooming for the Sense and Sensibility premiere!
How long have George MacKay and Doone Forsyth been together?
As you might’ve already guessed from her credits, Forsyth met MacKay on the set of the latter’s breakout movie, Sam Mendes’ war epic 1917, which was filmed in 2019. It’s not totally clear when their working relationship turned into a personal one. One of the couple’s friends shared a photo from their wedding day in November 2023.
Does George MacKay have kids?
MacKay and Forsyth welcomed their first child in 2021, confirming the fact two years later via The Times. At the same time, they shared that their second child was born in 2023, and they were raising them in east London.

In September, MacKay was asked by the The Telegraph if his family affects the roles he pursues. “Basically not,” he answered. “I try to keep the same intensity with work, but I have different responsibilities now, and everything moves and changes. I try to always be clear and true in my film choices. And I am very lucky with my partner, in the way she supports me, in the attitude that we will make it work, whatever is required.”
Work aside, the actor was asked during an interview where he goes for fun, and he said it was less about the place and more about the people. “Honestly, just being with my kids, they make me laugh so much,” he told London Evening Standard.
