‘Breaking Bad’s RJ Mitte Was Engaged Before His Death: All About His Fiancée

On October 12, Breaking Bad actor RJ Mitte, who played Walter Jr. on the show, died by apparent suicide in Texas, TMZ first reported. A rep for the actor confirmed, “It is with profound sadness we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte.”
About a year before Mitte’s death, he got engaged to longtime love Kennedy Suarez. He popped the question on October 10, 2025, Suarez’s 30th birthday, in California.
“I’m thrilled to have found my person, my partner in life who makes me want to be better, no matter what we’re doing,” Mitte told People at the time. “Kennedy is my everything and I can’t wait to officially start our life together and see what adventures life takes us on next.”
While Kennedy was a mostly private person, here’s what you need to know about her and her relationship with Mitte.
What does Kennedy Suarez do for a living?
According to People, Kennedy works as a human resources generalist. Her job is remote, which afforded her the opportunity to travel with Mitte for his various acting gigs, appearances, and more.
Unlike HR specialists, who focus on a specific area of expertise in human resources, HR generalists often have “broad range of responsibilities” with employees throughout their full cycle of employment.
Additionally, Kennedy worked with Mitte on advocacy endeavors, including his family’s charity, The Mitte Foundation, which “revitalizes and funds marginalized community needs in South Texas.”
How did RJ Mitte meet his fiancée?
Mitte and Suarez’s relationship began as a friendship. In fact, they were friends for more than 10 years before they started seeing each other romantically. Their relationship blossomed during a trip they took together in 2020.

Five years after they first explored their romantic connection, Mitte proposed at the 2025 Dia del Sol benefit “Ethereal Elegance, A Shimmering Celebration.” The fundraising event benefitted United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), which Mitte is an official ambassador for.
After getting engaged, Mitte gushed on Instagram, “I’ve found that love is not always sunshine and rainbows, and for me, what love comes down to is trust and believing in each other, regardless of the situation, during the good times, the bad times, and everything in between! I’ve been grateful for all the love and kindness I have been given over the years, but Kennedy has been the greatest unconditional love no matter what we are going through, no matter what we are facing type love and we face it all together. I will never stop lifting her up like she has for me and can’t wait for our future.”

Suarez and Mitte were living in Brownsville, Texas, at the time of his death. It is the southernmost city in the state.
