Every ‘Halloween’ Movie, Ranked

Halloween has been around for nearly half a century, yet it remains the most talked about franchise during this time of year. And it’s not just because the holiday is in the name. The story of Michael Myers, the personification of pure evil, has seen several iterations throughout the years. He began as The Shape, a force of nature with no motive, to a killer obsessed with his family. Now with the recent Halloween trilogy from director David Gordon Green, Michael represents his evil as an infection to be passed down to others.

Equally as important to this point, as well as the franchise itself, is Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode. We see how the encounter affected her through all iterations of the franchise. But she wasn’t the only person affected by his killings that night. Now that Halloween Ends has arrived and is streaming on Peacock, we see the fallout of the previous two films, how his presence tainted the community, and how monsters like Michael are born in the first place.

With 13 installments in the franchise so far, it’s easy to lose sight of which film reigns supreme over the other. And unfortunately, the themes of Ends now relate to how the discourse surrounding the film has been. Most of the fanbase is split on how they received the film, which makes it the perfect time to rank the series.
