Lieutenant Harper Li (Phillipa Soo)

Li is relatively new to the Judge Advocate Division office and ready to prove herself. “She’s straight out of law school and comes from a life of privilege—it’s been pretty easy for her,” explains Soo. But Li’s well-to-do parents and fiancé won’t make the job simple, the actress adds. “Her family assumes that the military is a phase, like backpacking through Europe after college.”

Major Trey Ferry (Ato Essandoh)

The superior officer, who works for the prosecution, is a “company man” through and through. But he’s also a family man. “He loves his wife and will do anything for her,” says Essandoh. They’re trying to have a child through IVF.

Colonel Glenn Turnbull (Dana Delany)

“She’s definitely the boss,” Delany says of her commanding officer, one of the division’s highest-ranking females. While Turnbull might be “rolling her eyes at the younger people’s antics,” she really loves being a Marine. And, it runs in the family—her husband and son enlisted in the military too.

Captain John “Abe” Abraham (Luke Mitchell)

When we first meet the rule-bending prosecutor, he is determined to solve the murder of his former CO and friend, who pushed the third-generation Marine toward law school after an injury. Can he get to the bottom of it? Perhaps. “Abe’s a little cocky,” Mitchell admits. “He thinks he knows everything.”

Captain Maya Dobbins (Anna Wood)

Wood describes perfectionist lead defense attorney Dobbins as
“super-duper by the book.” We’ll also see a softer side to the competitive lawyer as her relationship evolves with her brother, who is aiming to get into public service as well. “But he’s taking a different angle,” she teases.

Warrant Officer Rami Ahmadi (Raffi Barsoumian)

What exactly is a warrant officer? “He’s a specialist,” says Barsoumian. “He sits outside and above the enlisted ranks.” Basically, he’s the office paralegal. Expect him to bring the funny. “He’s often used for comic relief,” the actor says.

What’s the best way to describe CBS’ newest character-driven procedural? “I usually say, ‘We’re Marines…but we’re lawyers,'” offers The Code star Raffi Barsoumian,

He’s not wrong. In the drama (which moves to its regular Monday at 9/8c timeslot April 15), legal eagles based out of Judge Advocate Division headquarters in Quantico investigate, prosecute, and defend members of the Marine Corps.
