Susan Ward (Meg Cummings)
Since her Sunset days, Ward starred in the ABC Family show Make It or Break It, guest-starred on Criminal Minds and Major Crimes, and appeared in the Jack Black-Gwyneth Paltrow comedy Shallow Hal.
Lesley-Anne Down (Olivia Richards)
Down, a 1986 Golden Globe nominee for the miniseries North and South, played Jackie Marone on the CBS soap The Bold and the Beautiful between 2003 and 2012.
Eddie Cibrian (Cole Deschanel)
Cibrian starred in the NBC drama Third Watch for five of its six seasons, then joined the casts of the shows Invasion, Vanished, CSI: Miami, Rosewood, and Take Two. On the personal front, he’s been married to country singer LeAnn Rimes since 2011.
Hank Cheyne (Ricardo Torres)
Cheyne, seen here with Sunset Beach star Nick Kiriazis in 2015, went on to recur on the shows Big Love and Longmire. He also played a disgraced director in the Apple TV+ drama The Morning Show.
Priscilla Garita (Gabi Martinez)
Garita, seen here with her pup Roman, has appeared in the primetime shows Castle, Ray Donovan, and Bosch and recurred on the daytime drama General Hospital.
Kathleen Noone (Bette Katzenkazrahi)
Noone, who was already a Daytime Emmy Winner by the time she joined Sunset Beach, went on to star in the NBC soap Passions and to guest-star in the shows United States of Tara, Dexter, and Faking It.
Jason George (Michael Bourne)
TV buffs know George as Ben Warren on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and its spin-off Station 19. In recent years, he also appeared in the films Kidnap and Breaking In.
Sherri Saum (Vanessa Hart)
Saum is best known for playing Lena Adams Foster in Freeform’s The Fosters and its spin-off, Good Trouble. She also starred in the Facebook Watch drama Limetown this year and will star in the Netflix drama Locke & Key next year.
Dax Griffin (Tim Truman)
Griffin, seen here in 2007, appeared in CSI, The Vampire Diaries, and One Tree Hill but he also served as the stand-in for the de-aged Michael Douglas character in Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Though its three-season run makes it one of the shorter American soap operas to hit the airwaves, Sunset Beach still made a splash when it premiered in 1997. It was the first original daytime drama in eight years and the first foray into the genre for über-producer Aaron Spelling, whom NBC tapped to hook a younger audience with the show’s combination of ”bitches, bastards, and biceps.”
Alas, the sun set on Sunset Beach in October 1999, when the Peacock Network announced its cancellation — two months after introducing Passions, the most recent American daytime drama debut — and the show left the air on December 31, 1999.
