Jim Gaffigan: Quality Time

The streaming service that hit awards gold with a show about a fictitious stand-up comic is getting real with its first-ever original special. But unlike The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, this isn’t lewd. The man hailed as “The King of Clean Comedy” by The Wall Street Journal discusses his weight gain, complications with appendicitis, and America’s antiquated obsession with horse races. “People love the Triple Crown…[or] the Kentucky Derby, where people bet on horses while they’re dressed like characters from Gone With the Wind. It’s like prom for gamblers.”

Ellen Degeneres: Here and Now

The talk-show star’s 2003 set from New York’s Beacon Theatre originally aired on HBO and featured bits about movie theaters, the impossibility of having a complete cell-phone conversation, and something she knows a lot about: television. The hourlong treat was DeGeneres’ final special until 2018’s Relatable on Netflix.

Robin Williams: Weapons of Self Destruction

The late genius’ 2009 tour finds Williams having fun at the expense of politicians, as well as the then-possible legalization of marijuana. “They’re gonna have to put a warning on a box of joints: ‘The surgeon general has determined that this will make your music awesome. Even Yanni.'”

Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles

The raunchiest of the bunch featured here, Silverman’s debut HBO special from 2013 goes for broke with bits about Scientology, women’s empowerment, personal issues (“I was a bed wetter well into my teens,” she confesses), and more than a few topics a family magazine shouldn’t put in print! (But we still laughed!)
